A long rant but stick with me. A “5 Star” rip off. To start with the selection of buffet as they call it isn’t a selection it’s the same cold food every night. Even cold soup. The selection of food is so poor for a 5 star I would expect better at a 3 star even the breakfast was stone cold!!! As for drinks the orange juice was watered down so badly it wasn’t drinkable and tea and coffee were stone cold. Also summed it up when your sat with food bins around your table at your meal The bar that’s open till midnight shut at 10 :30 every night! We went here the first night thinking it was open for another two hours to be turned away and refused service as we were “ too late” this was at 9:50pm, we reported to management and nothing was done. This bar was also supposed to have people bringing drinks down to the beach throughout the day taking your orders, as for that a lie too. Be prepared to walk a mile and 60+ stairs Went to bed one night, the phone rang continuously throughout the night time after time. We rang down to the reception to be told it was a crossed line and nothing could be done! So some terrible nights sleep we had. We even had to u plug the phone as this was going off every 5-15 minutes To top it off we came back from a day at the pool to find our cleaner had left the door key in the door. Good job nothing was stolen !!!!!!! The girl at the top pool (can’t remember her name) with red hair, was SO lovely couldn’t fault her at all👏🏼👏🏼 As for the other staff didn’t want to help at all. The men at the bottom pool were SO RUDE and not welcoming at all when he asked where we were from in England he said he only liked “northerners” Just some highlights of our holiday..I could continue all night to be honest but we’d be here for a while. Would not return at all and definitely would not recommend

Kos Bay Hotel

Haven't done many reviews recently because I got fed up of people complaining bitterly about the budget hotels I use but some of the reviews for Kos Bay bear no relation at all to what I and a friend experienced last month on a 2 week holiday. Some people don't seem to know that you can read reviews on Tripadvisor and then make up your own mind whether to go. I read every review and then decided to go . The price for 2 weeks in July was a bargain for us at just over £400 each. So room fine ,basic but not spending much time as so much to do in Kos. A few problems such as the shower curtain but no problem as I had read the reviews. All staff pleasant and friendly especially the ladies at breakfast. The breakfast was included and it's hard to believe that there was not something for everyone. The breakfast is set in a dining area as you come into the hotel and you can eat outside on the veranda if you like though it was too hot for us. Just to run through some things, different breads and rolls cold meat and cheese honey yoghurt different cakes hot pastries. Canned peaches stuff that looked like Nuttela olives hard boiled eggs tea coffee apple and orange squash different cereal liked the corn flakes. Could go on but you get the picture. We must have been very lucky because we had plenty of sheets and towels. WiFi was excellent. No noise because we were not facing the busy roundabout. TV worked great all in Greek of course. Anyway it's amazing how lucky I have been with budget hotels maybe I don't expect the Ritz for motel prices.

We ended up here after the sister hotel we had originally booked at had some kind of issue, but its an absolute relief we did! This hotel is amazing, it offers an incredible room, everything you could want and need right there in the resort, and only a €2 bus ride away from Kos Town. Reception were helpful, the bar and restaurant staff were lovely, and we had a brilliant time.

This is our second stay and we have had a wonderful time. The setting of the hotel and beach is great.Michalis the manager and his staff have looked after all our needs and it’s clear he cares about his guests experience and was regularly seen checking if all was well. Special mention goes to Alina responsible for the beach bar who always greeted us with a big smile each day and made guests happy especially those with young children. They are all a credit to the hotel and I wouldn’t hesitate to return again hopefully soon. Darran and Elena
Grecotel Kos Imperial

Stayed at this lovely resort the last week in October '23, just days before they were due to close for the season. Read all the reviews and am delighted to say the property exceeded our expectations. So much so that we joined the loyalty club and are hoping to try another Grecotel next year. To address a few comments in other reviews that had us wondering about our choice prior to staying:-  1 ”It is classed as a 5-star and is not a 5-star”. IMO this is the difference between resort and hotel rating - it is not a 5-star hotel and would be a 4*+ hotel but is a 5* resort the difference between ratings accounted for.  2. ”The buffer is poor quality and to be avoided.” When only comparing against all the other restaurant options available you can say it is not as good but the food choice is vast for the buffet and good quality & value. Ideal for families. Tried all restaurants and enjoyed all. Was very surprised how much I enjoyed the Asian/Greek. Best to book all prior to arrival if you can. It is not cheap to eat and drink unless you take the Luxme package! 3. ”Rooms are dated and not clean.” - In our experience in a room in the main hotel with a sea view the room was fantastic! Yes it has soft pillows and bedding where I prefer hard but my wife loved it for a change. It was very clean and cleaned every day. Massive TV, AirCon, large bed with views we sat enjoying the view with Nespresso every day.  I was proven right the view was SO worth it :) Things I would recommend after my stay... - Book accommodation with a sea view it's amazing. - Luxme is well worth it if you like your food and drink - I got a high quote from reception but got a lower one from the customer services manager so call asking for her maybe!? €80pp for lunch, dinner, Afternoon Tea, refill Nespresso, room drinks and all cocktails/bar drinks! Even better value if you have kids under 12yrs. - If you like sea swimming buy/bring the swimming shoes as the stones are just too difficult to walk on and can hurt your feet. - Beds at the poolside are padded but not by the sea so pick which you want early on. Is a pitty not padded near the sea but if they were might never leave. - A taxi is a little less expensive than bus transfer. - Cycle into KOS one day is worth it as is Bus into town - less expensive dining but also has a few sights nice to see. Best memories - like sitting in a glossy holiday magazine picture every evening. The View from almost every location. The weather in late October 26C and sunny. The dining experience in all restaurants. The friendly and very attentive helpful staff. The bedroom with the balcony and the sea view.

The 'OK' basics; Rooms are clean and functional. No kettles or toiletries is irritating. The grounds are well kept with some nice horticulture and the green area near the pool is quite nice to situate yourself for some shade. The snack bar serves decent food at a reasonable price - but be aware it is very basic food. Drinks at the bar are basic too and they do a coupe of (usually very sweet) cocktails on special during the week. We found the bar staff very abrupt and even rude on the first day - to the extent we almost left the hotel. But they improved during the week! Breakfast is VERY basic. Now the not OK things The hotel has become a bit of an 18-30 type destination - mainly Dutch travellers. We didn't suffer it ourselves, but other guests had lots of problems with late night partying. The real issue is the number of people in the hotel means the pool is really a very un-relaxing place to be. At times the entire pool is taken up with people playing ball games and floating around on inflatables. It is horrendous and one afternoon, whilst sitting 15 metres from the pool, I was smashed in the face by a ball. We left the hotel during the day on 5 out of 7 days. It really is quite an unpleasant place to be during the day - if you want to relax go to a beach. If, however, you are the type of person who doesn't really give a s**t about other people's peace and want to spend the day pointlessly throwing a ball to someone, taking up half of the pool and hitting others, then this is the place for you. There are so many people crowded into the pool doing this for hours on end, the water starts to get cloudy from all the suncream and urine. The hotel don't care, so you'll be free to do what you want. Essentially, the hotel has zero personality and is very much a 'get on with it place' with few staff around. It is certainly expensive for what it is. It is located near beaches - just a three minute walk away, but they are not very nice and I would suggest getting a car and going further afield such as to Tigaki beach or those down in the south west. A rating of 3 out of 5 is really for the garden - otherwise a definite 2
