The property is close to the train station. In common areas are dated, especially the dining area with it's brown veneer panels. The female toilets didn't have hand basins, you have to go into a large shower or wash them in your room using the small handbasin. My room was next to a 'reading room' which has some foot traffic and my door opened onto this room which felt less private; especially as it also had a fire exit door. The property manager was helpful. The property has many stairs and rooms and corridors that have more steps that are larger than your average step height. The property can be accessed via a lane which is convenient to cut across to the main street etc.

The owner was super nice. I had a booking for a week and was already checked in, but had to leave after one night to take care of some matters, and the owner was willing to refund me the remaining nights partially in money and partially in credits for later use. This never happens with hostels. Very positive experience.

Out of all the places to stay in Katoomba I’d say that the mountain lodge is the best value for money. It’s right by the shops and everything else is within walking distance. The owner is a very hard working and genuinely kind person so he’ll make sure you’ll have everything you need so that your stay is a pleasant one. As a backpacker it has everything you need and is an ideal location especially if you enjoy hiking.

The room only has a bed and a wash basin, a shared kitchen, a shared toilet, and a shared bathroom. The only thing that surprised me was that there was no wash basin in the toilet, everyone had to go back to their room to wash their hands. There is no elevator to go up or down the stairs (the price is cheap, as expected).

The Host Ronnie was very helpful and friendly. I had a single room- the bedding was soft and cosy, and the bed was good. The location is perfect as walking distance to Coles and train station (but steep!). Had a very quiet stay which was perfect for me. Met a few other backpackers which was nice and generally really enjoyed my stay. Love the retro decor and felt very cosy. Heater in room was needed as very cold mornings! Would definitely recommend and stay again

Nice place; but the bunk beds were extremely loud which makes getting up in the middle of the night sound like a klaxon alarm. Just hope you dont need to drink some water or go to the toilet while on the top bunk :)

This is truly an amazibg stay, very close to the 3 sisters walk, i checked in late and the person at the counter was very helpful. Is cosy lodge with unlimited number of room😂.It has all the amenities needed, a balcony to view the entire mountains. It gets quite cold at night as it doesnt really have a heater. Overall amazing stay.

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere, but the room was really cold (we stayed there in July) and you could hear a lot from the corridor and neighbouring rooms. The toilets and shower room was also quite cold and could use freshening up.

It's a really quiet and warm place. If you're traveling to the Blue Mountains as an individual, I'll recommend it here. You can relax comfortably.

People would just walk in in the middle of the night, it seemed like there was no cut off for booking times or showing up.. however if I wanted accommodation I’d just rock up at any minute of the night..

Why would Wotif say that the rooms have private bathrooms if they don’t. It’s so annoying if the description of the room is wrong and I have to go on an expedition to find a toilet at 2am

We stayed here for a night. The Checkin process was a lil bit of a hassle, it was a lil tough to find the place too. The shared bathrooms were not very clean, it was super cold but we were provided heaters. Overall an okay stay but I would not go back.
