Sappraiwan Elephant Resort & Sanctuary

We came to this location on a booked tour. The guide “warned” us in advance because he said “he hasn’t been there for a long time since Corona and doesn’t know what it looks like”. This is a more than clear warning for Asian standards... And it was confirmed on all points. The property is huge and was certainly beautifully designed when new. Unfortunately nothing has been done since then (I suspect at least 30 years). The entrance area gave an idea of this, the reception area was still ok. There appear to be renovations going on, but we were put in an unrenovated room even though the hotel was far from fully booked. The rooms were dirty, old and the bathroom was simply unusable (water was seeping out of the toilet and running through the entire bathroom, the bathtub was disgusting). We only washed ourselves sparingly here... the rest of the facility: the gym, even though we had called beforehand, smelly, the windows haven't been cleaned for years, unusable. The pool area, Kärcher would have provided 10 high-pressure cleaners free of charge to clean it. The roof of the building is leaky, rotten and overgrown. ... logically the other areas/restaurant were also unusable for us. ... one thing has to be said, the staff was very friendly and tried to make the best of the situation.
