Fox Jaffna

Fox Jaffna stands out as one of the top choices for staying in Jaffna. Placed in an excellent location, this hotel is full of local history, making it a one-of-a-kind place to stay. Although many view it as a luxurious hotel, our experience suggests it's more of a standard accommodation. Our room was quite basic and could use some updates, especially in the bathroom. Unfortunately, the balcony door lock was broken upon our arrival, but it got fixed promptly. The overall hotel area and the pool were well-kept, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The service, while friendly, didn't stand out as exceptional. During our dining experience, the waiter pushed the dinner buffet, but we declined due to its questionable value and selection. Unfortunately, many menu items were unavailable. However, we chose a curry, which turned out to be quite good. On a positive note, the breakfast had a wide selection and was delicious. We suggest exploring dinner options outside the hotel. Adchaya Pathra restaurant, with its reasonable prices, polite service, and tasty food, left us satisfied. What makes Fox Jaffna special is its rich history. The hotel tells a centuries-long tale of a home that has endured tough times, now transformed into a tranquil resort. While Northern Sri Lanka is definitely worth exploring, currently, the value for money at Fox Jaffna isn't quite there. Therefore, we recommend considering another hotel instead. A home from home. I felt very comfortable in this hotel and the staff are attentive without being intrusive. Food is great too. Overall a lovely stay. Room was clean and the bed was really comfortable

An Oasis of a hotel in hot Jaffna . Beautiful cool garden with palm trees and mangoe trees. Praceful well appointed Chalets all facing the pool.The reception and the dinning room /restaurant is part of a1908 built colonial house very sympathetically renovated and houses a fantastc collection of Art and history in its basement .The rooms are also adjourned with famtastic pieces of art You wouldnt think that you are in Jaffna when you are having a cool beer in the garden in the evening . Everything in this hotel was amazing .The staff was the best Polite attentive and going out of their way to accommodate the guests . All guests I am sure felt the same. Stotty was the best. Amazing service friendly and efficient. We were a group of 12 visiting from Colombo.The food was lovely as well a mix of local Jaffna food and continental varieties . Our only regret is that we couldnt stay longer .A bit expensive for Jaffna hotels but if you can afford undoubtedly the Best place to stay in Jaffna .Wr sure will be returning .

We came for the buffet dinner on Jaffna night. Loved all the food and the service by Scotty was exceptional. This place has the best hot butter cuttlefish we have tried so far and we definitely recommend it! Esthetically the hotel is also beautiful and all the staff are super friendly and very informative.

The rooms are average but clean. It is located in the middle of the town, but inside is quiet and calm. We have been to number of hotels but, this has the best ever staff service. Most of the staff are tamils but can understand both sinhala and english. They are very friendly and did their best for us. Highly recommended. Beautifully restored traditional home resort close to the centre of Jaffna with a lovely pool and garden. Make sure you go down in the bunker to see the art work. Rooms are a very comfortable size - bathroom could do with a hand towel and floor mat. Breakfast was delicious. A coffee machine would have been an added bonus, with the choice of Jaffna style coffee or Masala Chai. Scottie was a stand out team member - friendly, chatty and very helpful. We will come again!

Great hotel. It’s a short Tuk Tuk ride from the centre of Jaffna but worth it. In our opinion it’s the best hotel in Jaffna. Good food and quiet location. Lovely outdoor pool. The staff looked after the guests well. Pleasant rooms and dining area.

This is an excellent hotel for food - and amazingly - wildlife in a garden paradise on the edge of busy Jaffna. Rooms are comfortable, bathrooms are functional but what makes this a 5 star review is the restaurant and staff. We had cookery demonstrations and cooked ourselves under the guidance of the chefs. We learned so much about real (not tourist!) Jaffna food from them. They made our stay an exceptional experience. Ask for Nithu, Anupa and Pupse - they are a culinary dream team! The garden and pool area are relaxing and a haven for birds and other wildlife. Otters, fruitbats, chipmunks all spotted while we were by the pool. Would recommend this hotel as an escape from the hustle and bustle of Jaffna.

We spent two nights in this peaceful and delightful hotel. We appreciated the kindness and helpfulness of all the staff. They made us feel really welcomed and relaxed. The food was delicious, they went out of their way and prepared some grilled fish especially for us as the fish curry was too spicy for us. We also had a cookery lesson from the chef to prepare crab and fish curry which was a very nice and tasty experience. After a whole morning out visiting the city, it was very pleasant to relax and enjoy the swimming pool. Additionally, we appreciated the tour of the bunkers where you can find a museum and an art gallery. Definitely highly recommended.
