Hi, I didn't like a lot of things, the place is in the middle of nowhere, it's not close to any store, the front desk it's not open 24 hours, The bunk bed is poorly designed, since if you sleep on the bottom bed, the top bed is very low and does not allow you to straighten up, because there is no space. They don't clean the room every day, it was super dirty, and didn't pick up the trash, the bathrooms are not that nice either, I definitely don't want to come back ever again.

No staff were present the entirety of my stay. Very rough area - lots of homeless and dodgy characters around the streets, especially at night. Had a person in my room who left at odd hours of the night, he would touch my bed on his way out and return around 8-9am, making more weird noises and behaviour. Not much to do in the city full stop.

Perfect for our music road trip. My friend and I followed the Lydia Loveless Band through Texas in February 2024. We chose Wanderstay for walking distance to the Continental Club, affordability and the ensuite option. Lisa at reception was friendly and helpful to show us the property. The hostel was clean and inviting. I would gladly stay again for a future visit to the Houston Continental Club.

Wanderstay is the best hostel (out of 4) I've stayed in so far. Super convenient location, diverse staff, clean rooms and friendly common areas and they have ice trays in the freezer lol! Secure gating with keypad code entry. I walked to level one gym, dbar, turkey leg hut and lyft ride at time of review only $9 to downtown area. My very first time in Houston, Texas I went to just see how the city was and I am honored to have stayed at the Wanderstay.

The place is so clean and nice. However, the customer service is awful. There’s never someone at the desk, I was scared to be outside before checking in cause the area is pretty unsafe and the lady on the phone didn’t want to let me in. Then I had to wait 30 minutes in the lobby to complete a form that didn’t even work and the lady was blaming it on me. A girl I met had to pay another hotel for the first night cause after 9 pm there’s no way to communicate with the hostal.

Clean, cozy hostel with large beds! I was in town to visit my cousin and the hostel was literally in her neighborhood. It was cute, quaint, clean, and it's not a party hostel which we loved! Will stay here again when we are in Houston again. Thanks Wanderstay

Did you ever stay someplace and wish you hadn’t? That was pretty much my experience with Wanderstay. I had a place booked downtown, but cancelled it because it was nearly three times as expensive and Wanderstay looked like a cool place. The problems started as soon as I arrived. After a four hour flight and an hour long Uber ride due to traffic, I just wanted to settle in, but I found myself locked out. Apparently they had send me a check-in form to fill out by email at 10AM that day when I was already at the airport. It went into my spam folder and so I never saw it, and I hadn’t been told to look for it. I spoke with someone else staying at the hostel that said they had the same experience. After calling and finally getting in, I got into my room to discover that the light wouldn’t turn on. After I climbed up to fix that, I unpacked. I’m surprised that no one could just check that light quickly before I checked in. Even though this was billed as a private room, there’s no place to put your stuff other than the lockers. Then there was the heat issue. The room was extremely cold basically the entire time I was there. They kept turning up the heat and trying to fix it, but it was still really cold and never did get fixed. The blankets provided did keep me warm, but you can’t sit up in the bottom bunk at all. I had access to the top bunk, but it was hard to get up and down, so I just wrapped a blanket around myself and sat at the desk that way which as you can imagine is very annoying. The lack of heat made the entire stay unpleasant and one has to wonder why I couldn’t have just been given a portable heater. If there truly was no solution, then maybe offer to refund a day’s rate? It’s really not proper to just say “sorry, we’re having a cold spell,” but that’s basically what the answer was. The last day I was there someone was screaming/arguing upstairs at the top of their lungs. I didn’t bother to investigate. The second night I was there, I had to go upstairs at 10PM at night to ask a guy sitting in the kitchen to please turn down the YouTube video of an opera singer that he was blasting at top volume. Luckily he was pleasant about it, but if he hadn’t been, I don’t know what I could have done about it. There isn’t always someone at the front desk, so if you have a question or a problem it can’t always be taken care of right then, although I will admit that the staff are friendly and try to help out when you find one of them. Officially they are only there 9am-3pm but even this isn’t always so. Then there are the small things like no towel, even a cloth one in the kitchen to dry your hands after you wash your dishes. People were good about doing their dishes, but the trash was always overflowing it seemed. I kept seeing requests for reviews all over the hostel and I even got an email about how it’s a small business and please help out to give a review, but yet the owner doesn’t want to take the time to do the

The place was cool and was a relief for the hot weather outside. It is located near bus stops and some restaurants. The place and the room were clean. The staff was nice and very, very helpful (Lisa).

1. They do not have a lock for the locker. Bring it yourself. 2. When I stayed, the room was too cold on the first night and too hot on the second night. You are not allowed to change the setting. Good luck! 3. It is clean and cheap. Hope you get good roommates!
