An incredible set of buildings with a huge range of facilities, including many pools, beaches, restaurants and bars. Unfortunately the level of service does not match the quality of the building and although there are many members of staff, they are often not doing anything or just on their phones. This meant things like ordering drinks or paying for activities such as water sports hire took a long time or was very difficult. No table service, even when we were the only people in the bar. Often drinks had to made in another part of the hotel and so took a very long time to arrive. Loud music played on the beach every morning from 0720, so worth asking for a room at the back the hotel if you don’t want to be disturbed. A lot of the features seemed to be for “show” rather than properly supported. The arcade for example, looks great but most machines were broken or switched off and people were more interested in posing for photos rather than the actual functionality of the equipment. Gym looks nice in photos but limited equipment. Similarly, a swim up bar in the indoor pool looked promising, but not stocked or staffed. Pool tables on the roof top bar look nice, it terrible quality if you actually want to play pool! That said, pools were very nice, beach was nice and water lovely. A lot of rubbish on the beach, but sadly this is true across most of Ha Long Bay. Easy access to the town centre of Cat Ba by using electric taxi service outside the hotel at 10,000 VND per person each way. Several restaurants , bars and tour companies in the town. Room quality was excellent, especially with the sea views; price included buffet breakfast and dinner which made it pretty decent value for money.

Fantastic views and architecture, the greenery all around is amazing. The hotel has a lot of entertainment - karaoke, slot machines, beach sports. Don't have a boring time. Excellent breakfasts - there is both Asian and European food. Big choice. The only negative is the quality of the water in the sea - it is cloudy, and there is also a suspicion that household water is drained directly into the bay. It is sad. The sea does not attract a five-figure hotel. Few of the hotel employees speak English!!

I had an amazing stay at MGallery CatBa! The hotel is located next to the best beach on the island, the view from my balcony was gorgeous. The hotel has plenty of facilities for the guests to enjoy: spa, two lovely pools and kids centre. Check out the pretty rooftop bar right near the swimming pool and the jacuzzi, the view is worth visiting. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were super helpful, especially Hien and Thanh at the front desk, who promptly organized the drive for me to go to the downtown after I checked out. I will be certainly coming back in the near future!

Very friendly welcoming, nice room with small window. The bed was extremely fluffy, slept well. The manager and the receptionist were so nice and helpful, even more when I got sick. The kitchen cooked me rice and one employee took me to a doctor. If I come back I would probably take the slightly more expensive deluxe room cause it offers access to the sauna (price not included but fair) and is bigger. But the standard room was also spacious enough for one person. Close to the city center but quiet, no loud music disturbing the sleep, very close to the viewpoint at the old Fort, 5 minutes walk.

Stayed two nights here. The hotel is in the heart of the Catba island with a lot of restaurants, tour agents and shops around. Our room was upgraded by the owner due to the availability and the stay was a very pleasant experience. Room was nice and clean with all basic needs included. The breakfast was also alright for the money paid. The owner and all staff are very helpful. Highly recommend.

For the price you pay this hotel is excellent. The staff are friendly and super helpful. Located in Catba town it is just a short walk to the restaurants and bars at the front and about 20 minutes to Catco 3. The rooms are very clean, spacious and look almost new. We arrived in the evening from Tam Coc. One good thing about the line buses in Cat Ba is that almost all of them will drop you off and pick you up at the door of your hotel (if it is central). The hotel is like most of the city: it is the width of a room and does not shine for any luxury. Ours of ”Palace” only had the sign although there were older ones. From the start, the elevator smelled incredibly musty and the room we were given (3 beds, no balcony, smell of lightning...) did not correspond to the theoretically luxurious ”Bridal Suite” reserved. They moved us to the main façade and, although it was the same as the one in the photos, luckily it shouldn't have been the scene of a honeymoon trip... it was quite worn and not at all attractive (at least it didn't smell musty ). It wasn't small, but it wasn't big either. It had a balcony facing the street (with a railing so short that it invited you not to go out, under penalty of suicide for the theoretical boyfriends) and views that were more or less good as it was a high floor. Large bed, with a hard mattress and acceptable sheets. Worn furniture, a.a. and satellite tv. Minibar with courtesy water. Small, old bathroom with a curious sink whose countertop had been cut just enough to be able to sit **** (sideways) on the toilet without suffering major damage. Shower equally old with a window to an alley, weak pressure and towels to change. We didn't get to have breakfast on either of the two days, because the room was tiny, unattractive and the buffet was poor and poorly presented (we bought some milkshakes and cookies). Wifi ok. We understand that it is a highly touristic place with a lot of demand and that shows in the poor quality of the hotels. Despite the positive (?) comments, we would surely look for another hotel.

There are only basic facilities and you may be disappointed with the old toilet and shower facilities, but you can choose it as a one-night accommodation at a low price. Simple breakfast and good reviews for travelers are close to Yummy1, Yummy2. It's raining, so I haven't used it myself, but I heard that scooter rentals are available, and like other hotels, tours and long-distance bus reservations are available. The front desk female staff is fluent in English to some extent, but it looks good to work hard to respond to customers, so if you go to Shemba Island again, you will be willing to stay for another night.

Cannot recommend this hotel enough! The value for money is excellent, the rooms are the cleanest I have stayed in in Vietnam and the family that run the hotel are so helpful, with anything from tour bookings, motorbikes and buses back to the mainland. If I am ever back on Cat ba Island I will definitely be staying here again.
