The Almanett Hotel

Gulfport|0.44km from Joseph T. Jones Statue
We came to town for a sun-stroked day out at Ship Island and come excursion's end, we wanted to limit the amount of time our tenderized limbs spent in contact with the hot plastic of our Toyota compact. We had already booked a room at The Almanett, which was about two minutes from the parking lot. While normally a bit above our price range, splitting the fare with friends by booking a double makes the Almanett affordable, and we arrived to this renovated former family residence charmed by the care and attention of the staff, our room (”Loretta”--named after one of the former owner's sisters) and the pictures of Mdme Almanett (guessing she's the namesake?) adorning the common area. There is a delightful mid-century elevator which runs three floors and drops down to the first floor bistro--which we passed on, this time around--as we were in town for just a single night. Our rooms were clean, tidy and fully stocked with a Keurig, an iron, a sitting desk, the mattresses were firm and the shower itself had two showerheads, which felt pretty luxurious. The location is surrounded by restaurants and bars within walking distance (we managed to stumble over to Shaggy's because we could see it from our window). From certain hotel vantages you can see the gulf waters lapping at the white sands of the beach, and if it were any cooler (it was 90+) the accessible elevated porch/patio with a dining set would make for an excellent mid-afternoon porch cocktail. Morning breakfast included freshly brewed coffee, an assortment of fresh fruit and donuts clearly baked that morning. Our room would've benefited from a mini-fridge, but what we really needed was ice for our day-trip cooler and our hotel staff, Tasha, not only guided us to the ice machine but helped us sneak our loaded cooler through the back of the bistro and onto the elevator up to our 3rd floor room. Everyone was lovely, this establishment is well-cared for, and we will definitely be returning in the future.

Quality Inn Gulfport I-10

In our room there was a dirty towel hanging on the back of our bathroom door. Then the lights went out at 2am and did not come back on till 4:30. So that left us hot absinthe dark for hours. Also I had two irons in my room that didn’t work the both left my clothes wet from the water leaking out of them both.

I’m the type of person who spends hours reading reviews before I’ll book, even if it’s just for one night!! This place looked ok, even if it was a bit pricier than usual. Check in was ok, although no recognition of my BW elite status. We were given a double room instead of the queen I’d paid for but I couldn’t be bothered asking to move. We were also sent out the back of the hotel which had done shady characters hanging around doing what looked like drug deals. We kept to ourselves and double locked the door! The pillows were good but it felt like you were rolling off the side of the bed. The room was clean and shower was good. Coffee machine didn’t work. Breakfast was awesome, busy but clean and they kept everything stocked. Overall stay was good and we would stay again.

Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Gulfport

A last minute trip to the coast had us searching for an inexpensive place to stay for a few days. The hotels along the gulf coast were ridiculously expensive, so we started looking for a room inland. Christina was so helpful and made sure we were satisfied with our room. Nothing fancy, clean comfortable bed, clean bathroom, coffee pot, mini fridge and microwave. One negative: the floor was vacuumed but needed a good mopping.

My family (and several other families) stayed here for a youth ball tournament over the weekend. Check in was quick and easy and even got early check in. The front desk clerks were very helpful and generally seemed happy to help with any of our requests. Our room was clean and we had plenty of extra towels brought to us when we requested. This hotel is close to several restaurants and shopping centers. Gulf Island Waterpark and the Gulfport Sportsplex were less than 2 miles away. Overall, we had a great stay and I would recommend this hotel for your Gulf Coast stay.
Red Roof Inn Gulfport - Biloxi Airport

My husband and I stayed at the Red Roof Inn for an extended weekend and we were pleased. The room was clean, everything worked and the front desk staff was professional and polite. It’s an older hotel but, again, it was clean and well-kept so we had no issues. I very much enjoyed the central location; they had the Outlet Mall nearby as well as another bargain shopping center and movie theater. There’s even a Walmart almost directly across the street. The one problem with the location is that no-one delivers to that zip code (unless you use a delivery app service like Waitr, Postmates etc). We tried to have pizza or chinese delivered, but no luck. I could talk about the continental breakfast was nothing spectacular, and the towels not being the most plush, but that wouldn’t be fair. This is a budget hotel and we got exactly what we paid for—nothing less. We’d definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Gulfport.
