Airelles Gordes, la Bastide

We have stayed at some of the nicest hotels in the world and this one ranks right up there with the best of them. The view is spectacular, the location in Gordes is great, the service is cheerful and attentive without being intrusive, the rooms are ornate and whimsical…I really can’t say enough. The concierge was so helpful and the spa treatments we had were wonderful. The pool is just as beautiful as it looks in photos. Despite the old world charm of the hotel, there is no shortage of new world amenities…the gym is new, the A/C works well (funny but that’s sometimes a tricky thing in old hotels!), and all of the bathrooms in the entire place including the rooms are immaculate. If you’re considering staying here definitely do it! We can’t wait to return!

Solene, our server, made our experience eating at Airelles in Gordes absolutely amazing. Having Solene as your server is something to experience. She is poised, kind, friendly and a world class professional. Prices at the restaurant are pretty high, but having that food, which was perfect, and the excellent service made it worth it. And to top it off, Solene is a dog lover. Our kind of person.

This place is the most beautiful hotel that I have ever stayed at. The building and location are just jaw dropping. The service was phenomenal as well. The little details from the warm reception (greeted with hot towels and a personal tour), to the candles glowing in the library, to the personalized luggage tags that they gave us when we left, it was service at its finest. The food is also wonderful and the restaurant views are to die for. It was magical getting to stay here.

We had lunch in the l’Orange restaurant and enjoyed excellent food and service. The service is exceptional and we were given a very warm welcome and all the staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable. There is a very good wine list with some exquisite wines and champagnes and the menu has fish, some seafood and meet. The views are spectacular over Gordes. Would recommend.

Hard to know where to start. Unbelievable experience of hospitality, gracious and luxurious old world feeling hotel (castle feeing), with outstanding dinners and breakfast. The setting built into the cliff with grounds fit for a queen, offer spectacular views. Not to be missed. A story: my wife understandably had done some heaving shopping through Provence, and our 2 small suitcases were not enough for all of our gifts. I searched Gordes and even drove 20 minutes to another village and we couldn’t find a suitcase to purchase. We had shared this with the concierge Elio. We were shocked and surprised to find in our room that evening a new suitcase he had driven 40 minutes away to buy for us. It was incredible. I told the manager Romanique about the story, and had him recognized. The entire staff was exceptional, 5 star+. I also want to note that their finest restaurant is L’Orange. The setting is amazing watching the sun set over a beautiful hill and homes. If you have the money to spare, and want to explore the Gordes area or Provence, don’t miss it. We’ll be back…

The location is the best, viewing the beauty of the valley. What a great way to wake up to the sun slowly opening the valley. Food was very good in the restaurant, inventive and tasty. Char, burrata w/tomato, and a wonderful fruit arrangement for dessert. The low review is for the bar food; underwhelming at best. We ate there because most local restaurants were closed on Sunday. Overcooked burger, miniscule cheese (France produces cheese, doesn't it? We had great cheese elsewhere). The fries were very good. A friend had the croques monsieur; very sad excuse for a beautiful French sandwich. Seemed like a child's portion. I suggest never eating in the bar. Wine is overpriced, but good. Wait staff superb; kudos to Mariah for putting up with us. We did not complain, but wanted to let others know. Great place to stay, just watch what you order. Thanks!

Airelles La Bastide was the most magical and perfect stay for our honeymoon! We have never stayed at a more perfect place. We were so sad to leave. The staff were the most incredibly nicest people we met. The rooms were spotless and the gifts left for us were a true treasure. The bag, hat, and candle and all the treats were fantastic. We can’t wait to come back someday!!!

La Bastide has become one of my top 3 favorite hotels of all time. This was my first visit, and it certainly won't be my last. I had no idea it was built into the hillside and that it was right in the middle of the village of Gordes. ARRIVAL. From the moment we drove up until the moment we were left to unpack in our room, the service and personal attention we received was impeccable and perfectly executed. ROOM. We stayed in the exquisite Baron de Simiane suite. Words can't do it justice. I've attached a few photos, but also check out the website. The in-person experience far exceeds any gorgeous photo taken. SERVICE. We received top-notch service everywhere: valet, front desk, concierge, maid service, restaurant staff, and the pool. Everyone was very polite and helpful, and there was never a wait. RESTAURANTS. We ate at both restaurants - Clover Gordes and L'Orangerie. The outdoor seating and the views were fantastic. I tried something new at Clover Gordes - the Zucchini Flower - which was quite tasty. In Provence, they certainly love their olive oil. Be prepared to try many kinds. Note: If you watched "Emily in Paris" on Netflix, the lunch scene in season 3, episode 6, was at the Clover Gordes. POOL. It was really hot the week we were there (103 degrees Fahrenheit). We spent one afternoon at the pool. It's a grassy setting with its own self-serve gelato stand. SPA. We didn't have time to experience the spa this time. Next time. WHAT I LIKED MOST. The location, the beauty, and the aroma throughout the hotel. I figured out that the scent was from the Airelles Holy Amber candles and diffusers. SUGGESTIONS. Plan to be there on a Tuesday so that you can experience the farmer's market in Gordes - right up the street from the hotel.
