The hotel is conveniently located close to highways and Funchal attractions. Rooms are nice size and well furnished. Rooms facing the garden side are quiet while those facing the street can get lots of traffic noise at night. There is shopping mall across the street with a nice grocery store and fast food restaurants. You can park at the mall for free on weekends. The hotel also has arrangement with a garage next door for 3 euro parking for 24 hours. There are many other nice restaurants in the neighborhood. Rooms don’t have heaters but the hotel can provide a portable one.

After a 4 hour flight we were taken to this hotel which is about a 45 min stroll on the promenade to Funchal. There was a courtesy bus but not needed. Opposite the hotel is a mall with supermarket, clothes stores and eateries. The newsagent sells Giro cards for the buses. For €5 daily you can use the public transport for as many trips as you like. Simple load the card. You pay extra for the suburban ticket that takes you farther. In the opposite direction, again a 45-1 hour walk, you arrive at the fishing village. We caught a taxi from there up to the skywalk. We walked back down the many stepped corridors through the farms back to the centre. Our knees were wobbly by this time as the descent had taken about an hour. Enjoyed coffee and Bolas on the entire holiday. A ride up the mountain on cable car is well worth it with spectacular views of Funchal. Pick a clear day. The small cafe just near the toboggans provided pan pipe music and delicious cappuccinos as we enjoyed the vista and watched the men in pin*****e suits guiding the toboggans down the steep slopes. We returned by cable car. If its not busy, you can just wait for an empty car and hop in with just your crew. We enjoyed having it to ourselves. A visit to the Ronaldo museum was OK, a bit pricey for the entrance. They should have shown his best goals on a reel but nothing like that. Just saw trophies and pics. The botanical hardens were not in full bloom due to time of year but were pleasant to walk around. There is a museum there too with stuffed animals. A walk through the town is very pleasant. Live bands can be very entertaining on a Saturday afternoon. Hotel room was spacious replete with a mini kitchen, fridge, crockery and cookware. We had the garden view where it was quieter though I couldn't compare. Breakfast had great variety. Many lines. No complaints. The swimming pool was heated and there was a sauna too. Huge towels are provided. There is also an outdoor pool.

Stayed end of February. The hotel is on a steep hill but near bus stops for airport, Funchal and the tourist buses stop on the road outside. Great location can walk into Funchal (40 mins) or take 1, 2 or no.4 bus for €2 and facilities. Breakfast was good plenty of fresh food and a good selection of hot and cold food. I was pleased with my room, had a sofa, balcony, kitchenette and was clean. Mattresses very hard, generally the furnishings were a bit worn and the hotel has very dated decor, needs updating. Staff are polite and helpful. Would stay again but not 4*

My sister and I had a lovely stay at the Jardins D'Ajuda, last week of January into early February 2024. This hotel gives excellent value for money because it is not expensive yet it is of a very good standard. Our twin room was very nicely furnished with a nice big balcony overlooking the tropical gardens of the hotel with banana trees! We had a nice clean bathroom with both bath and shower and the ladies who cleaned and serviced our room did a fantastic job in keeping it spotless and tidy. The buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and in a nice pleasant dining room. There is a big outdoor pool with plenty of sunbeds for everyone and a nice snack bar for drinks. There is also a great indoor pool with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, gym and changing facilities and showers. All the hotel staff were very helpful - the people on reception, the bar and snack bar staff, the pools staff and the room cleaners. We thought it was lovely and superb value for money. Just one final note - the hotel is well-named because the tropical gardens are absolutely lovely. Highly recommended.

This was our 2nd time at this hotel,we thought we were only getting a land view room but were pleasantly surprised to be given a pool view suite. The rooms for some are possibly dated but they are very clean and comfortable, the cleaners were there every day and linen and towels were changed every other day, the reception staff are very friendly and helpful as are the doormen. There is an outdoor pool and on cooler days an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The local bus runs regularly from just around the corner from the hotel entrance taking you right into Central Funchal. There are quite a few local eateries nearby for local food,Indian or Asian or in the Forum shopping centre next door a KFC and other fast food outlets,so all tastes catered for. Breakfast was lovely a very good selection of foods from porridge/cereal to meats, fruit and the obligatory Madiera cake. The bar had a Happy Hour on an evening and entertainment every night (except Sunday) which was mainly provided by Jacky & partners and once a week a local group came in to perform. Another lovely stay, thank you to all the staff for making it so.

This was my second visit and I had returned because I had extremely good memories of Christmas there before. Although it it is almost 2 miles from the centre of Funchal there is an excellent bus service and the shopping mall has an good supermarket 3 minutes away. Christmas Gala Dinner was excellent. I had a couple of housekeeping issues which were efficiently dealt with. The only disappointment was the corridor carpeting was very stained and the decor felt tired.

This hotel is a sad memory of the extravagant hotels that used to exist that have been left to deteriorate because the cost to maintain such large establishments is just too great. When I say large , I think we were put in the room furthest from the reception ... a good 800m walk I reckon The rooms are extremely dated. .. I say this as there is a phone in the toilet and the hairdryer I am pretty sure is older than I am ! The decor needs a revemap and is pretty rough around the edges as shown. The rooms facilities are not that of a 4 star hotel (the 4 star is still on its exterior ) no tea and coffee room facilities , we arrived to no towels in our room which we were then fiven towels that are only useful for rags . I was glad I had taken one of my own . The beds themselves .... am I an adult or a child ? Wait for that roll over and the sound of the waterproof sheeting on your bed.... i am all for hygiene but it does not make for a good night's sleep. There is plenty of storage and a TV for those who like to pack heavily and a TV evening. The breakfast was your standard buffet setup but was hot and the staff were very friendly and conscientious . Evening entertainment was pretty depressing more for the fact the poor acts had no audiences most nights . Well done for the hotel for trying to accommodate those that didn't want to venture into funchal (around 40 minutes walk away ) There is an indoor and outdoor pool, we didn't venture to these due to being out hiking majority of our time but plenty of people seemed to. There are a couple of bars and restaurants withing a 5 minute walk but the walk to the harbour town lobos is around 45 minutes and similar to funchal .
