Hotel la Gemma

Florence Historic Center Florence|0.07km from Church and Museum of Orsanmichele
When we arrived at Hotel La Gemma, it had been opened a grand total of 15 days. But no one could tell because Gianluca, the Hotel Manager, was in charge and everything was already in full swing and running smoothly. Gianluca himself showed us to our suite and made us feel welcomed. He was warm, engaging and very helpful throughout our 3-night stay. He even showed me how to make the stamps stick on my postcard by gently peeling off the back of them - they were adhesive like stickers. Before Gianluca came to the rescue, I was licking the back of the stamps like a fast-melting gelato but they still wouldn't stick. Gianluca also patiently walked me through the Tren Italia website to book our train tickets to Venice - all on my mobile phone. Eduardo at the Front Desk was earnest, lively and of great assistance. At breakfast, Luca the waiter was very good at explaining the extensive menu and choices available. He was solicitous and anticipated our needs. We missed him when he was not on duty. The hotel’s location is excellent, right in the heart of Florence and a stone’s throw from the Post Office. It is a very short walk to Piazza Republica, Ponte Vecchio and the beautiful landscape of the River Arno. The rooms are very well-appointed; huge comfy beds with fluffy pillows, a wide array of fragrant toiletries and, thick body-encompassing towels. The impression is one of old-world sophistication and luxury. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning to Hotel La Gemma.

Casa Thiele alla Signoria

Florence Historic Center Florence|0.05km from Church and Museum of Orsanmichele
Casa Thiele is a delightful boutique hotel right in the heart of Florence. We arrived in the city by tram from the airport to Unita and from there it was a 15 minute walk to the hotel. The entrance isn’t obvious at first as it doesn’t have a sign. Look for the green door and you’ll see the hotel announced on the buzzer panel. The hotel itself is at the top of the building, up several flights of old stone steps. Note that there’s no lift. We had a lovely welcome from Daniel who explained how things work and then showed us to our room. This is a small hotel with only 5 (I think) rooms. Our room was at the front of the building and was a very good size with a large double bed. The bathroom is also a good size. It can get pretty noisy in the street below though the double-glazing cuts out much of the noise. Breakfast is ordered at the start of your stay and unless you say otherwise, you’ll receive the same order each morning. Croissants, brioche, fruit, yoghurts, cold meats, cheese, muesli, juice, coffee and more. The lovely Antonio looks after guests during breakfast with patience and good grace. The location of the hotel is fantastic, just a few minutes from Duomo in one direction and the Uffizi in the other. This comes at a price, however, because it is incredibly busy in the whole area around the hotel. It’s not cheap accommodation but you’re paying for the uniqueness, the personal service and the location. We loved our stay at Casa Thiele and should we find ourselves in Florence again, we’d definitely go back there.

Celebrated our 3 year anniversary with my partner. It was an unforgettable experience. Regina was so lovely, warm and welcoming and no request was too much for her . All the other staff at breakfast were really friendly and attentive. Amazing location, right in the centre of everywhere you need in Florence and were blown away at how quiet the room. We loved every moment of our trip and couldn’t recommend Corte Calzaouoli enough, particularly for couples. Hope to revisit soon, thanks for having us

Simple family-run hotel , at the 4th floor of a historic palace , courtesy and sympathetic staff , fantastic location in the center , perfect for families with children , excellent breakfast complete of everything , I don't understand people complaining, The bathroom is a little real but on holiday we need to adapt a little. We went with three children who were excited by everything , thanks really .
FH55 Hotel Calzaiuoli

Hotel Calzaiuoli is right in the middle of EVERYTHING, great for people-watching and walking to the major sights of old Florence. We had two rooms, one of which had an interesting feature where the bathroom was up a small flight of 4-5 stairs from the main bedroom. Very interesting and fancy-looking, though it was a bit nerve-wracking trying to navigate the stairs in the dark of the middle of the night. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, with good sized beds and bathroom space, though our twin bed room's bathroom was considerably smaller than the other. In-room safes are available for valuables and the overall vibe is very light and airy with high ceilings and big windows (again, great for people-watching on the street). Breakfast is a mixed bag, with savory options not really very good (eggs seemed to be powdered reconstituted eggs, and bacon was very floppy) but quite an amazing spread of pastries. If you have a sweet tooth for breakfast, there are plenty of cakes and tarts, even macarons if you choose to partake. Coffee is best if you wait for one of the attendants to offer a cappuccino or espresso rather than serving yourself from the carafe on the warmer. The location can't be beat, with the Duomo no more than a couple of blocks to the right and the Palazzo Vecchio and Uffizi only a few blocks in the opposite direction. There are a lot of shops along the street which makes for quite a bit of pedestrian traffic, though as with much of old Florence, vehicle traffic is very restricted and so it's nice to walk around and window-shop.
Cavalieri Palace Luxury Residences

We spent 3 nights in Cavalieri apartment. The location can not be better, just in the middle of the center. Apartment was big, clean with all what you need. The host Carlo is old school gentleman, taking care about all we needed. The only problem is to get with car to the apartment. It is so in the center, that it is almost imposible to get there. The solution is to ask Mr. Carlo to send a taxi to navigate you, it works fine. All in one, perfect stay in superb location!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
