Dar 7 Louyat

Fes|0.18km from Al Attarine Madrasa
A full delight ! We had a wonderful week staying at Dar 7 Louyat. First, the staff is extremely nice, welcoming and helpful. Sufyan speaks many languages, including Chinese, which was very nice for my mother-in-law who speaks only mandarin. Our children (6 and 1.5) felt right away very confortable with Sufyan and Fatima, and could roam around in the Dar with ease and confidence, and play with them. Sufyan was super efficient in organizing transfer, excursions to the middle Atlas etc. The place is a palace ! although Bertrand, the owner, refer to it as a Bourgeois house from the XVth century. The central space where we could spend time and dine, where the children would play, is beautiful, a well of light with columns 30 feet high, with the rooms arranged all around from ground level to the top, and a little fountain in the middle. The place is wonderfully restaurés by traditional materials and artisans. A beautiful terrasse where Fatima would prépare and serve delicious marocain breakfasts with different types of breads and pancakes and crepes, cheese and butter, honey, homemade jams, coffee, squeezed orange juice, mint tea. It was so nice to stay there and enjoy the view, the sound of the fountain. The rooms were very nice, beautiful shower, a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. The wifi is good and I spent two days of work there in the most agréable setting. The location is also very good, right in the Medina, close to the very interesting place Serfarine. And the markets are everywhere around. The whole stay was a perfect delight. We had three diners there and I highly recommend the tagines and couscous etc prepared by Fatima. We’d definitely would love to return.

The younger brother at the front desk is very enthusiastic, because the language is different... I am very patient to give us directions, help a local guide... The hotel location is too far from the city gate, the luggage is manually dragged by the workers... difficult to find, they will not find it. I will get lost in the old city...

Riad Rasia

You enter the new medina, confronted with an exotic mix of unfamiliar sights, sounds, and smells, and arrive at the Riad Rasia unprepared for the beauty of this newly renovated but traditional riad. Looking in any direction you will find impressive examples of local artisanal craftsmanship, from the architecture to the décor and examples of pottery, metal work, and art. Tired of a steady stream of tagines and couscous? Fatima serves up (for guests only) delicious starters and traditional main dishes (in Morocco, nobody leaves the table hungry!). The owner, Amina Zakkari, is also a very experienced guide and can offer helpful suggestions to make your visit to Fez a memorable experience. All in all, we found our visit there to be a lovely and gracious experience and would not hesitate to return there on our next trip to Morocco.

The riad was a gem hidden on a street in the Medina. We were welcomed with a cup of mint tea after a long day of traveling from Rabat. It was quiet and very authentic. Our room and our two older daughters rooms were big. We had dinner one night and the service and food was excellent. We even had a bottle of wine with our dinner. In the afternoon after walking around the Medina and touring the sights, their rooftop offered a nice quite place to rest with a panoramic view of Fes. The riad is about a 5 min walk from the tannery. All the hotel staff were extremely helpful. Their breakfasts were excellent, fresh OJ, yogurt, bread, cake and they will make you eggs or omelets. Great way to start the day,

It’s close to the square and the surroundings are lively, but it’s a bit hard to find. I was lucky enough to be knocked 50 yuan Moroccan currency (two people followed and the other asked for 50 yuan, but we didn’t give it, but only 50 yuan). The room is too small, the bathroom facilities are simple, and overall it's ok.
