The room is very large, the surrounding is safe and quiet, especially the hotel staff is very good, one day we have no time to finish the meal, the front desk knows that we went to the breakfast room and gave us a lot of food, very warm

Rarely perfect holiday inn Check-in experience. The surrounding transportation is convenient, of course, it means driving and trying to think less about public transportation in the country. There are parks, malls, oil stations and so on within 2km of the hotel.

I like Residence Inns when I’m on quick business trips, and I stay at them frequently, but never again at this one. Granted, I’m only a Gold member, so I don’t expect anything from my membership, but most places at least acknowledge your membership. Not here. No “welcome”, no thank you, nothing but running my credit card and handing me keys to a room I didn’t want. I needed a quiet room to work and sleep, and prefer the top floor so I don’t have people above me. But I was on the second floor of a three floor building, and she insisted it was “all they have”. She then told me that she didn’t know if the room she assigned me was quiet, because people lie about who and how many kids are in the rooms. HUH? But what she neglected to tell me was that there were going to be construction workers in the hallway outside the room, yelling to one another and moving their ladders and tools, etc. not their fault- they have work to do. But to deliberately neglect to inform a guest that there will be construction outside your door at 8 am, and continue throughout the day is unacceptable. So, No. It was not quiet. Not even close. And it is worn out and tired, with torn chairs, dirty rugs, and I ended up putting a blanket on the couch because I didn’t want to sit on it otherwise. For almost $300.00 a night? That’s just stupid. I’ll be going elsewhere next time.

Spent a recent June 2022 weekend here with my wife and toddler. The staff were great and like many other reviews, this is a great place to stay. Unlike some other RIs in the area, this is newer (built in 2011 I believe) so that really shows in the little things like the sink fixtures, nice clean white tile in the bathtub, etc. I am Bonvoy Titanium Elite and they upgraded us to a 1BR suite which was very large and spacious. Parking is free, the area is very safe and it’s close to many places one might need to go in Northern VA. There was one significant disappointment and that was the breakfast. I realize during the worst of the pandemic many changes needed to be made but I just felt deflated to come down and find paper plates and plastic silverware. When you’re away from home often you value things like eating with real silverware and real plates. Additionally, everything just seemed like processed food. Instead of a warm cauldron of oatmeal, they just had packaged containers of dry oatmeal that you’d need to pour hot water in. Eggs were fine and there was some fruit, but compared to other RIs I’ve stayed in during the pandemic, this breakfast was really 1 star. We didn’t even bother on Day 2 - we just went to Panera. It’s a shame because everything else about the hotel is really good. I just want more than pre-packaged processed food.

Our 2-queen bed room was okay, nothing special. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was great. Interestingly, when we tried the TV, it wouldn't turn on. I thought it might be the batteries in the remote. I called the front desk, and someone showed up in about 10 minutes. No, not the remote. He did something, i.e., put in some kind of code. Aren't hotel TV set supposed to be ”ready to go?” A recent review remarked about the lengthy check in process (with no one waiting). I experienced that too. Interesting? The breakfast room is huge and attractive. We sat at a table overlooking the pool. Breakfast, at best, was fair. The sausage patty was ice cold, in spite of it being in a metal container labeled ”hot.” The potatoes was not hot either. There were no pastries in the little pastry ”cabinet.” I had to ask about them. He brought out two kinds of mini muffins (okay) and, I think, donut holes (stale?), which were cold, probably just out of the refrigerator. Getting in and out of the hotel grounds was a challenge, i.e., not easily done, especially during high traffic times. And, yes, the hotel is convenient to GMU, only about 2 1/2 miles away.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights at the end of March 2023. On arrival, we noticed that there was a cherry picker outside the hotel and that work appeared to be happening. At reception, there was a piece of paper taped to the desk explaining that building renovations had now been finished and that painting was all that was still being carried out - and that this would not happen outside 9-6. The check-in staff member advised that we would have to request a room refresh as Hampton Inn no longer did so - until the 5th night. We were on a 2-night stay. I asked the reason for this and he told me it was connected to Covid. When I pointed out that this no longer seemed a current reason he told me that it 'depends on which policy you read'. To me this is cost-cutting. The room was, however, lovely and recently refreshed. It was spotless. I agreed with the other reviewer about the lack of sound insulation through doors. We could hear everything out in the hallway - when someone went into the room next door or opposite it was so loud that it felt like they were coming into our room. We could also hear into the next-door bathroom. That was the only downside. That and the fact that we forgot to ask for that room refresh after all. Breakfast was standard.
