Hotels near Turnhal Avegoor in Ellecom

We had a renovated deluxe room, that might explain some differences with other people's experiences. And were positively surprised, except for the dinner restaurant ( see separate review). Actually this renovated room was real 4 stars, and better than our average Fletcher hotel experience. Twice as large as the standard room for 50% extra price, basically a mini-suite. Separate sitting area with desk and sofa, bathroom with separate tub and shower (all a bit crammed) and in the other half of the room a separate WC. Nice bed, balcony, good WiFi. Pool was surprisingly good and big for a hotel, also free sauna. Decent breakfast, more 3 than 4 stars in variety; and a bit slow in refills. The estate grounds are already very nicely landscaped but the walks in the nearby Veluwezoom reserve are stunning. The room had a small drawbacks though: no hooks etc. to put the towels, and nice shower gel and shampoo supplied but absolutely nothing in terms of soap, neither liquid or concrete. We did not complain, otherwise probably they would have fixed that.

The hotel is perfectly located next to the Central Station and at the edge of the shopping centre. In the lobby you can work and take a cup of free tea or coffee. The staff is young and informal. The rooms are not large, but a good bed and bathroom. Unfortunately, we find the death sin for each hotel room: a bottle of gliding from previous guests under the bed. Although the room was not dirty, this is of course a point of attention.

Just a short (thankfully downhill) walk from the railway station (extensive rail and bus services give easy access to almost anywhere in the Netherlands) the hotel is an even shorter walk from the north bank of the Nederrijn with its shady walks and numerous restaurants. Very handy as there is no restaurant at any IHG Express. As I arrived mid-morning the room was not ready but the staff (more about them later) were happy to store my case until I returned that afternoon (and again after checkout before leaving on an afternoon train). The room itself was a good size with a large comfortable bed, a functional desk and chair and a comfortable chair. Air conditioning kept the temperature stable and the lighting was good - not the ”fashionable” near darkness of some. Bathroom was good with a spacious shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. Coffee and tea available. Breakfast is the only meal offered and is a fairly basic standard european offering. Meats, eggs and cheeses were adequate, yoghurt good, fresh fruit salad very good indeed. Coffee was machine provided and good with a variety of offerings. No hot options (standard with the Express brand) and I did not try any of the other cold choices. Although fairly centrally located with easy access to shops and all the usual facilities and infrastructure the room was quiet and peaceful. An Albert Heijn mini-supermarket opposite attracted small groups in the evening but was not a bother - indeed very useful for an occasional small purchase. All standard and as expected for the brand so why mark it excellent? I will come back to the staff who were unfailingly excellent - helpful, cheery and friendly (though never less than professional) and recognised me by the end of day 1. A credit to the hotel and its management. This is now my first choice when next in the vicinity

Let me start off by saying: if you are looking for a nice area for walking and cycling, this hotel may be worth it. The surrounding woods are quite nice. Other than that, don't expect much. As others have already mentioned, it's not a typical hotel but more of an outdated holiday resort. It's not even close to being worth 4 stars. There are two rooms per building, using the same main entrance, and you have to pay extra if you want the ground level room - which is apparently also the only one with a kettle and coffee machine. The stairs to the first-floor hotel room are quite steep and not accessible to everyone. The vibe it gave was 'sleeping over in your 70-year-old uncle/grandpa's attic'. The rooms are very old-fashioned, with no clock, an old radio you can't plug in because of the lack of outlets, and a bit of a musty smell. The 'two-person bed' is just two single beds pushed together, so if you want to be intimate with your partner or just sleep close together you will most definitely end up in the gap in between. The beds don't sleep great, either. There is no airconditioning so it gets quite hot in the summer with no way of cooling down, and the wifi is not too stable. There is also some mould in the shower, as well as rust, and the window in the bathroom does not open. The toilet sometimes refused to flush properly. Breakfast was standard, don't expect any vegan options except for bread and peanut butter. You are allowed to take some stuff for lunch, though, which is nice. There is no fridge in your room however, so keeping things cool is not an option. Also bring your own cutlery, plate & cup if you plan on buying breakfast/lunch at a local supermarket, because the room only comes with two plastic-lined paper cups. There is only one vegetarian main course on the restaurant menu, but the chef was very kind and made the vegetarian lunch options dinner-sized for us. Vegan would definitely be impossible, though. The restaurant and pool are also not that easily accessible for people in a wheelchair or with a walking impairment. Definitely get some sort of voucher or discount deal, otherwise the prices are way too high for what you get. You're not allowed to order food from Thuisbezorgd etc. The pool is... well, it's not much. It's small but barely anyone goes for a swim there, so chances are you will have it all to yourself. Bring something like a diving game or a ball if you want to have anything fun to do. The showers don't really work and half of them only have cold water. There is a tennis court but it will cost about 12 euros per hour to use it, and the 'sports fields' that are on the map they give you have become overgrown and cannot be used. You're not allowed to park your bike next to/close to your building but there is an old shed-like building in which you can store your bike. Clean hotel and excellent location right next to the train station and walking distance to the town. Good size room. Bathrobe and slippers provided I didn't eat at the restaurant, breakfast was basic but had bread, eggs, cereal and fresh orange juice.

We were in Arnhem from 25 th to 31st of August to drop our daughter into Arnhem business school - we stayed here during the time. It’s private and cozy and very friendly staff with a small resturant serving nice food and drinks right next to the hotel. Staff helped us getting taxis and also refunded the 3 day money when we decided to check out earlier. A few things that were not upto mark : the duplex studio was very nicely designed but was too small with very steep stairs ( if you have knee issues or someone who is travelling with a LB elderly Check this part beforehand ) Being an apartment and not a hotel there is not reception or round the clock service. Another important point is there is no UBER in Arnhem and getting a taxi to go around is a far more difficult task than one is used to in cities.

Great staff and great hotel. Ideally located for our European motorcycle tour and have us a much needed break. Great access to Arnhem and also allowed us a moment to pay our respects to the commonwealth troops that have their lives during operation market garden. Thank you Arnhem VDV

Nice and clean, professional business hotel. Elevators the most effective and comfortable I ever seen in a EU hotel. Most rooms have a really nice view. Good restaurant, fast English speaking service. Like you have the small tables in a quiet place/row of the restaurant for single business travelers. Actually people meet each and have a chat there. No pressure for tips, that's common in other hotels. (Included in the price already) Just the amount and off you go without feeling obligated. Love that you drive straight into a free hotel parking garage with elevator, and have a entry to the lobby, no stress on a rainy day, unless you park way up at the roof. Perfect for travelers and business. Did not see any children, most business people so it was nice and quiet. I ended up here because my company favorite in Cuijk was fully booked, but I don't regret that. I will drive a few extra distance to stay here again. My absolute favorite for the area indeed.
