Value for money can be very hard to find in the centre of Edinburgh, and unfortunately, this was no exception. It wasn't particularly cheap, but nor was it that great. It did the job as a place to sleep, but the bed was a bit hard, and the pillows weren't very comfortable. The blackout curtains did a decent job, so that's a plus, and the windows kept the street noise outside to a minimum. Unfortunately it was a little noisy with people out in the corridors, which woke me several times through the night. The bathroom was pretty small. Again, it did the job, but I felt the shower was a bit cramped. There was also no screen or anything, and so the water just went absolutely everywhere, and the bathroom floor ended up pretty flooded, with no real way to sort it. On the plus side, there were no issues with the cleanliness of the room. Everything was clean and tidy. The breakfast was also a bit average. When we arrived there was almost an hour left on the service time, and yet there were some items missing, that were not replenished. There was no brown bread, no pastries, no baked beans (there were empty dishes/baskets where these had obviously been earlier in the service). I felt that the hot food wasn't particularly warm, unfortunately. On the plus side, the coffee was really nice. So overall, the hotel did an OK job, and met basic expectations, but didn't feel worth the money that was paid of it.
