Murex Bangka Dive Resort

Diving was awesome, dive guides so expert at finding and recognizing critters. All the equipments are well maintained. Food delicious with local sambal :)

Lovely setting with great staff both on land and for diving. Rooms are well appointed with mosquito repellents and water dispensers. Food is OK and plentiful. The Spa offers wonderful massages at a very fair price. The diving was nice but jot spectacular. Visibility was very poor, unfortunately, but they can't help that!

Even though we’ve been diving off Bangka Island a number of times before, this was our first visit to Murex Bangka. It’s a small, more traditionally built property that has a long family history and excellent reputation in the area. Rooms are good-sized with well-equipped semi-outdoor showers/bathrooms. Property is very compact with a huge central restaurant, dive storage & dive briefing area, brand new well equipped camera room, dive center & spa. Food was served buffet style with numerous selections, including vegetarian, to choose from. Some breakfast items were made to order along with traditional Indonesian offerings & lots of fresh fruits. On our last night we were served an excellent traditional, completely steamed in bamboo, Indonesian dinner. One night our dive guides joined us for dinner and then a good portion of the staff performed both traditional Indonesian & contemporary songs as well. I’ve never met an Indonesian who cannot sing beautifully & play an instrument! Dive guides followed us up from Lembeh Resort so we had consistency in our guides and excellent dives up in the bluer waters off Bangka with amazing hard & soft corals and big schools of fish. 30-40 dives per person over two weeks was the average for this group of 15 between Lembeh & Bangka. Diversity of marine creatures was excellent. The beachfront property is lovely, the staff friendly and caring, excellent food, delightful spa & top notch diving. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer end to two weeks in N. Sulawesi and everyone left with tears & smiling faces, vowing to return!

We were in the first of the newer cottages just up the hill. Superb views, and a terrific location on Bangka to explore the incredible Coral Triangle sea. Again the resort & dive staff are phenomenal - friendly, capable & intuitive. They even learned the names of all in our large group! Expectations are well set, food (buffet BLD) had something delicious for everyone, primarily Indonesian favorites (thankfully). It is easy and rewarding diving. The house reef is also lovely for snorkeling.

The diving at this resort was amazing - most colorful walls and reefs, even the reefs off the beach were fun to snorkel or dive. The service was perfect It was incredibly picturesque. The dive staff and guides were so helpful and with much kindness and patientce shown to each individual diver.

We stayed at Murex Resort Bangka for a week in August 2023. The facility is extremely well maintained, the staff are consistently friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and nice, the diving boats are in top condition, and the crew from the driver to the diving guide is first class. The service of the diving center is indescribable, as we didn't have to worry about our diving equipment, all the work was taken care of for us. The diving areas are incredibly beautiful and not overcrowded. The trip to Lihunu for the ceremony on the occasion of Independence Day was well organized and was an adventure with a boat trip and a return hike through the jungle. The food is simply delicious and well prepared. We can only recommend Murex.

A very nice dive resort in a beautiful setting. This resort has a bit of a rustic and laid-back feel. The rooms are very-well appointed, and the food offerings are adequate. It's a perfect place to disconnect and enjoy amazing diving. The dive operations are a bit less organized Try their "Ticket to paradise" program that allows you to stay and dive at three different dive resorts.

We visited Murex Bangka with a group of 20 students who had recently completed their PADI OW, and as our boat approached the island and we got our first glimpse of the resort, we knew we were in for a special experience. Unobtrusively set amidst lush vegetation, you are really stepping into a tropical paradise when you get off the boat at Bangka. Lovely accommodation runs along the white, sandy beach, with more accommodation nestled on the hillside. The food was consistently varied and delicious, with all dietary requirements catered for. Best of all, meals are served up on the beach outside the dining room, so you can tuck in whilst looking out over the myriad of blues captured in the ocean. Bangka has fantastic new diving facilities, including a new camera room, and the diving is nothing short of spectacular! There is just so much to see that there is not the space to list it but suffice to say that the Murex dive team is absolutely amazing, and our dive guides were fantastic at finding and pointing out to the students even the smallest of marine life, like the sexy shrimp and pygmy seahorse. The reef itself is second to none, and our students also really enjoyed their visit to the coral nursery and learning from Andrew about the different types of coral and how his team is growing and transplanting coral, doing important work in preserving the marine environment. Murex Bangka was a truly unforgettable experience, and we can’t wait to go back!

Set in it's own bay with a stunning view of the sea, Murex Bangka is an idyllic beach resort. The hill-side chalet I was in is generously-sized and very well-appointed. The bed is comfortable and the balcony is a shaded place to chill in the afternoon. Note that the room air-conditioning is only available from 5pm to 7am each day. This is due to the location's limited power resources and the resort's commitment to be as environmentally-friendly as possible. Meals are scrumptious and there is alfresco dining in the evenings when the weather permits. The staff are incredibly warm and accommodating. The F&B team are exceptionally attentive. I recommend visiting the local village to get a glimpse of life on Bangka island. The dive sites around Bangka offer a variety of dive-scapes and macro-photographers will have a field day capturing the variety of critters there. There's always a chance of spotting a dugong. The dive centre is well set-up with a dedicated camera room. The dive boats are spacious and include a marine toilet. A dive briefing is given prior to each dive and the dive crew are mostly attentive. The management has been responsive to customer feedback and the team works at maintaining service and safety standards high. Bangka Murex is worth at least a 5-nights stay.
