I decided to ditch staying in the city centre based on my below par experiences there on my last trip. When looking on Trip.com, Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Dalkey was the same price as several dorm rooms in the city centre when I looked. Getting there from Dublin Airport was relatively straightforward. I took and Aircoach from the airport to Dalkey/Ulverton Road and then walked for about 15 minutes. Up to the hotel entrance. The hotel is fairly old fashioned but personally I found it very charming. The staff were well-trained in the art of hospitality, the rooms were clean, locals were in and out of the bar, restaurant and leisure centre. Furthermore, the room was spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. The tv had a nice range of channels and the bathroom had a working shower and an abundance of towels. One thing missing was a toothbrush, toothpaste and shaving kit. I was told that you can get slippers on request as well. Get the breakfast. It’s €16 and it’s a buffet style with a delicious selection of hot and cold food. There’s rashers, sausages, hash browns, pancakes, the works. I wish I could’ve eaten more! I loved that they had a wide range of ages working there as well. One of the staff tripped when she went to ask if everything was ok and she said ‘I’m fine, I’m falling for you!’ It was then that I knew that I was home. The leisure centre is one of the best I’ve come across in a while. I’ve stayed in so many places where it’s literally an empty room with a few bits of old equipment but they had loads of weights, treadmills, bikes, etc. They do classes and physiotherapy as well. The pool and jacuzzi were also excellent. Plenty of ages in both as well but it wasnt overcrowded so you’ll get a few lengths in if you want. Lastly, make sure to go for a walk about Dalkey and the surrounding areas. I spent the morning walking down to the Vico Baths, the Forty Foot (both swimming locations) and passed through Dalkey Village. Plenty of people will be out with their family and friends whether it be for a walk, bike ride, swim or a coffee and a chat. Ditch Dublin City and say yes to Dalkey!

This hotel is totally classic and cozy to staying at here. The service is completely excellent and professional. The only bad thing there is the location is too far away to the Bray train. It is necessary that drive car into hotel but i havent. Its too inconvenient.

House keeping very poor. Our room wasn’t made up when we got back both evening.  We had expressed this on leaving to go out on the Monday morning so expected the room to be serviced and it wasn’t again. This happened us a few years ago at Fitzpatrick and it hasn’t got any better. We don’t think this is good enough as we were away from early morning until after 4 pm approximately 6 hrs. Plenty of time to make up a pretty tidy room. Very disappointed. I spoke to duty manager Stephen and he was very nice ,looking to give us a free meal which i didn’t except as i wasn’t looking something free i just want they to improve their house keeping.!!!!!!

My stay at Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel was truly memorable. The amenities surrounding the hotel were incredible, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and convenience. Just a short walk from the hotel, I found myself at the sea, where I enjoyed serene walks along the shore and the calming sound of the waves. In the opposite direction, a gentle stroll took me to the nearby hills, providing breathtaking views and invigorating hiking opportunities. The proximity to both the sea and the hills made my stay at Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel a unique and enriching experience. The blend of luxury accommodation with such splendid natural surroundings is something I will cherish and look forward to experiencing again.

The location is good and hotel needs updating, the carpets and hallway look outdated, the rooms service was leaving only two large towels even though there was 3 occupants in the room, the staff were very helpful, the chef/kitchen is poor, long waits just to get chicken fingers and chips, the menu is over priced for what you get, (portion are small for the price) we got cauliflower soup and it was like water and the soup bowl was not even warm, we only eat there once and had appetizers on our last night, I would stay again if the price was right but I would not eat there unless there is a big change with the restaurant chef, the breakfast was traditional Irish, not much of a fresh fruit options unless it was all taken by 9am when I came down for breakfast.

The room was spacious, and the bed was large and comfortable. It was one of the few hotels I stayed in during my trip to the UK and Ireland that had such a comfortable bed. I highly recommend it. There are also recreational facilities like swimming and playing sports.
