Long searched for a 2-day accommodation option in Dickwell. Hotels on the first line are quite road. They ended up staying at this guest house and did not regret. Location on the second line from the main beach of Dickwell, from the road a little further down the block. But it is very quiet. At the same time to the beach eight minutes in a rush. My wife and I booked this hotel months ago to get one of the superior chalets for our stay. We were in Sri Lanka and a few days before this booking was to start I got a message from the Ravan to say there had been an overbooking error and we were being moved to a superior double with a private balcony and the price would be reduced appropriately. On arrival our superior double was probably the worst room in the hotel. The bathroom smells like an open sewer and our private balcony was the open corridor outside our room which had a couple of chairs, judging by the full ashtrays this was clearly smokers corner. When I said this was unacceptable they said they had another room to show me. This turned out to be a completely different hotel and I was expected to pay extra as this was more expensive. Again I refused. We were then left sitting in the corridor with our cases. I then had to run around looking for somewhere to stay. Not exactly what I planned. I would be very reluctant to take this hotels word for anything as even a confirmed booking is no guarantee.

The first best quality I saw in the hotel was maintained very good customer service. They are ready to listen to the customer very well and fulfill the need quickly. The hotel has beautiful access .The view is such a amazing🔥... I just had an nice massage on there Ayurvedic spa which I would recommend everyone who visit here. The room are very clean and Luxury I just love it. I attended an event here and the food and drinks were very good and the atmosphere was very good. It is equipped with a hall with good space. This is good place where you plan to a company get together and all. Talking about food, you can get different varieties of food here. And it's taste amazing.. Overall, I can say that I got a very good experience. A hotel worth visiting.🙌

Whilst the location is fantastic and they have a great pool, the rooms seem not to have been touched since 1948! I think the original furniture is still in the room. One of the windows in our room did not go all the way to the top of the frame. It is an expansive resort and has some good public spaces, but our experience with our room was not great. The air conditioning did not work for our first night and it took 4 goes for the staff (in the end, the engineers had to fix it) and when it was fixed, it blew on the highest level and we could not turn it down - and we were very cold on our second night. Also, every Sunday down the beach, some bar holds a disco till about 12.45am - the noise of which carried stratight to the resort and made sleeping a tad challenging. The music they play at the resort during dinner is also quite loud. Food was ok - nice selection of Sri Lankan and western food. I would not stay here again.

There are many choices for buffet breakfast and dinner, and the taste is good. Of course, there are occasional mistakes, such as grilled too raw beef shoulder. There are very few things for children to entertain. There is a game room where you can draw, watch TV, play games, etc., but the maintenance is not very good. The service is generally good, ushered in. However, there are more ingredients for the show, and some details need attention. Overall, the price / performance ratio is average, and it should be done.

Everyone longed to return to The Last House. Easter Sunday tragic events, whose cause can never be fathomed, left a devastating scar on Sri Lanka. Precious time at The Last House made us reset ourselves, and regain the confidence that the spirit of Lanka can never be felled. Ananda and his team excelled in spite of all the challenges they had faced in running the business subsequent to the tragic events. Hats off to the management that they had kept up the innovation on all fronts, cuisine especially with excellent local curries and seafood. The magic of Mawella Bay is that when you go from this beach you take with you the peace that you have found there.
