Anantara Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka: A Healing Paradise Hidden on the Indian Ocean
Anantara was undoubtedly the most stunning surprise of my Sri Lankan trip, a true "vacation within a holiday." From the moment I stepped into the resort, I was completely enveloped in its beauty—the garden-style layout perfectly blends nature and luxury, every step feels like stepping into a postcard. The pool merges seamlessly with the blue of the Indian Ocean, and sitting on the beach at sunset watching the waves crash, even time seems to slow down.
The guest rooms are impeccable. Stepping outside reveals expansive ocean views, the bedding is so soft you don't want to get out of bed, and the attention to detail is evident in every aspect, even the scent of the toiletries is comforting. The dining options are plentiful and delicious. Verala Restaurant offers exquisite and authentic cuisine, Il Mare Restaurant boasts exceptionally fresh seafood, and the room service we tried was both comforting and thoughtful. The most unforgettable experience was the hotel's spoon-making class. Learning to cook Sri Lankan dishes with the chef became a special highlight of the trip.
The service here truly embodied the phrase "home away from home." From the warmly welcoming staff to your personal room host, everyone wore a genuine smile and thoughtfully remembered your preferences. Lifeguards on the beach proactively offered towels, and some staff even braved the rain to climb coconut trees just to deliver fresh king coconuts! This attentive yet unobtrusive care made the entire stay exceptionally comfortable.
Even spending the whole day at the hotel was never boring. The comprehensive facilities met all your needs, and the spa's therapeutic programs were a perfect way to unwind. Leaving was bittersweet; the scenery, the food, and the warm hospitality became my most precious memories of Sri Lanka, and I will definitely return!
