I’d have to start off by saying the pictures were slightly misleading. I’m not hard to please but at the bare minimum the property should be clean. I arrived to check-in around 10pm and the lobby area was very dark. There was also a sign on the door that indicated some sort of inspection was taking place. I stood at the front for a few minutes before a young man appeared. The gentleman at the desk was friendly and to the point. While he checked me in, I couldn’t help but notice bags of trash in the office behind the desk. It was very messy behind the counter. The cleanliness of the property definitely was an issue during the duration of my stay. There were bags of trash randomly about the hallways. I felt like I was at a trap house. The room itself was decent but it was hard to overlook the stained carpets and old fixtures. I really wanted to like this place but it was very difficult. The beds were comfortable. The location of the property was decent as well. All in all, would I stay here again? Definitely not. The tall Sonesta Tower across the street was much better. We ended up checking out and going there.

I thoroughly enjoy my stay when at the Marriott downtown. I would wish the valet parking service could be swifter as I had to wait about 20 minutes for my car to arrive even after calling for it to be pulled before checking out of the hotel. Other than this, my stay was as good as it has been in the past

I have stayed in many IHG properties, including Candlewood Suites, and they have always been good. This room was an embarrassment to the company! The experience started with the check-in where we were processed by a very sharp young lady. Full disclosure, I was somewhat surprised I was not given an upgrade due to my Rewards standing but, it was a reward night. When the elevator door opened, it squeaked so badly we were apprehensive about getting in. We did make it to the third floor and our room appeared to be fine. BUT, the first issue arose when the remote would not turn on the TV. I finally got it to light up by using the power button on the set. The remote would only move the channels up, not down and although the closed captions showed on, they did not work. When my wife got out of the shower, she told me it was the slowest draining tub she had ever seen. When I got in later, I had to remove the stopper completely in order to get it to drain. The control for the sink stopper WOULD NOT WORK and I had to push it all the way down. Then, I could not get it open and my shaving cream residue stayed in the sink after I pried the stopper enough to get it to slowly drain. When I got in the shower, I discovered the shampoo and the conditioner containers WERE EMPTY! I related all these issues to the desk person when I checked out but I am not confident she was concerned at all! Although I used reward points for this room, I WASTED THEM!

Hi Ryan, We were in room 702 for 6 nights. We encountered many problems mostly with room maintenance, street noise and housekeeping. We requested daily room cleaning and it was very poor or non existent until last night when we actually had a decent room cleaning and closer to what was expected. There was something spilt all over the door entrance into the bedroom the entire stay and never cleaned. One day housekeeping came but didn’t leave coffee or towels. On 2 mornings during the 6 nights the alarm went off at 6:00 am. This was not the first night or 2 nights in a row. My guess is an unhappy housekeeper deliberately did it. I reported several room problems a couple times but they were never addressed. The entrance door rubbed and made a lot of noise. We also had to pull it to make sure it locked when we left. The door to the refrigerator is falling off and rubbing, the Airconditioner blows to much in the living area and not much in the bedroom making it hard to sleep in one room while the other person is watching tv in the living area as it’s to hot. The shower door hits at the top and feels like it could break. The drapery pull rod came off the 2nd night and never fixed. The room is also very dark and needs updating. Customers should be told of the highway noise, it makes it very difficult to sleep.

Checked in on Friday 6/3 for a wedding and checked out Sunday 6/5. The lobby, bar, and banquet rooms were all very nice. Hotel staff was very friendly, cordial, and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Pool was great! Service at the wedding was top notch. The shower was severely lacking in water pressure, to the point where I felt like I was in a public gym, but I had no issue overlooking this. However, my overall very positive experience was greatly reduced with all 3 of my interactions with the onsite Valet. First encounter: Checking in, the wait for valet service was 25 min. Would have parked myself but there was no clear instructions on how to do so. Valet attendants showed no hustle (a lot of confusion, standing around, yelling, overall chaos) and then I even witnessed an attendant driving a $100K BMW bump into a parked pick up. This left me very unsettled leaving my car in their care. Nevertheless I did. 2) I called to have my car brought around Sat morning so I could retrieve an item I had left in the car. Attendant was somewhat rude and dismissive on the phone as well as in person. 3) After checking out, the valet process was, once again, pure chaos. I understand this is somewhat to be expected at 11AM on a Sunday. But again, there seemed to be no organization, no system, and just general disfunction with little care for the guest experience. Then, I witnessed an enraged guest screaming profanities because his car had been badly damaged while in the care of the valet service. There was easily $1,000 worth of body damage to his car. Finally after 30 min of waiting, my car was retrieved. No remorse or apology for the wait or overall experience. In general, very nice hotel and stay that was severely diminished by the valet experience. Bottom line, if you're going to force driving guests to pay $36 per night for a valet service, it needs to be far more efficient, friendly, and people need to feel comfortable leaving their vehicles.

We have stayed here many times over the last couple of years while visiting our son at SMU. The location can't be beat....and they price gouge because of this, especially for weekends when special events or football games are going on. The website does a very poor job distinguishing between the different types of suites, so you really never know what you are actually going to get when you check in. They could do a much better job at cleaning. It's never been horrible, but the bathrooms do not feel clean and the showers often have an odd sour smell. Also, we have not had good experiences with the quality of the food at the onsite restaurant. I would never choose to stay here if it was not so convenient for our SMU visits.
