Not too bad for a 2 night stay. Hotel was clean, room was quite small, but warm and had ironing facilities and tea/coffee amenities. Old hotel but kept well. Staff were friendly. Show in room 28 had absolutely no pressure. Reported the matter but nobody came to sort it out. Room was not cleaned. Later saw a notice saying the rooms are only cleaned upon request. Well, that’s about it. Oh yeah! Nice fireplace in front of reception and bus stop just outside.

This is not a 4 star hotel. I am not sure where the rating has come from and how long ago it was given. Our room was one of the dated ones, it was not very clean and the bathroom was poor, unclean and dated. We booked a spa weekend. The food in the restaurant was very good and the girls working in the evening very friendly and helpful. The cost of drinks was extortionate at £5.20 for a pint of coke or lemonade. The breakfast the next morning was plentiful but wasn’t being restocked very often so empty juices, pastries and bread. The spa experience was good with the outdoor pool our reason for going. This was great. The back massage was good, nothing special so not worth £95 if you are paying for it separately. The pool and jacuzzi inside were fine. The changing rooms were not clean, over flowing bins and dirty towels on the floor that hadn’t been returned. The floors were all wet and it didn’t feel like it was being maintained throughout our session. Overall we had a good break, we got the outdoor pool experience we wanted with some good food but it is not a 4 star hotel. The rooms are adequate and the appearance inside the hotel is also adequate. The spa bar and food was equally as expensive. Not bad food and cake but £££. I would book again on a spa break because I felt our stay was heavily disappointed compared to what we would have paid for things separately (booked via the main website , no deals or third party website) but I would pay for an upgraded rated room next time. Staff on the main reception were friendly and helpful.

We stayed here 1 night after flying into Manchester airport late. The GPS took us to the hotel, but we could not find out how to get into the hotel. So frustrating. There is a taxi rank outside which serves the railway station opposite, and the hotel. No where to pull up and offload luggage. No hotel parking either. At 11:00 pm, after an international flight, this was the last thing we needed. Finally, we learned we had to park in the multi-story parking lot, and drag our luggage across to the hotel. Once we were in the hotel, we were greeted by friendly staff. Our room was lovely, and bed comfortable. Breakfast was good. I have food sensitivity issues, and the manager at breakfast was very helpful in guiding me as to what I could and couldn't eat. Food was good. Nice experience despite initial confusion.
