The Swan Inn

We couldn’t fault our stay at The Swan! Amazing food and service, a very comfortable room with some lovely touches like the beautiful bath, and gorgeous walks from the doorstep.

We had lunch with friends as visiting the area for the first time. What a smashing place, I’d give it 6 stars. Had drinks and then the small fish and chips in the bar. So cosy after a very wet walk. Great welcome, staff are brilliant and it has a great atmosphere. I would love to go every week if I lived nearer. Thank you so much.

We’ve just eaten at The Swan. We are not regulars but have dined there in the past as we live in Hayfield. The atmosphere is warm, wine and beer good. My husband’s fish meal was enjoyable but very expensive and lacking in vegetables. I had the chick pea and aubergine samba. It was very tasty but the rice wasn’t cooked properly and rather congealed so I didn’t eat it. When I told the server upon collection of the plates, she said she would inform the kitchen. That was it. I have worked in hospitality myself and it is normal to offer some recompense…complimentary hot drinks or suchlike. But not here. Disappointing.

This has been our favourite local restaurant for many years, so, as an early Christmas present for my wife, I booked a table for dinner and a room for the night. Our dinner was excellent, as usual. We were booked into room three, which does not front the road, and was very quiet. The room was beautifully appointed with thought given to all guest needs.

Excellent stay at The Swan. Evening meal was first class, breakfast was first class, and the room was extremely comfortable with super king bed, coffee maker, fresh milk, monsoon shower, quiet, and just a lovely space to be in. Car parking was easy. Definitely recommended.

Arriving late to the Swan Inn and on the day they informed us there is no way they can help with a late checkin! Unbelievable in today’s modern age! One would think that the owner of the hotel over the phone when talking to him would have helped.

An exceptional gastro pub with rooms. Beautifully decorated. Warm, friendly and attentive service and above all brilliant food. Exceptional room (room 3) with unusual attention to detail throughout. Very comfortable bed. Unable to fault it and for the price, great value.

Comfortable, large, tasteful boutique rooms where everything has been thoughtfully planned, right down to the built in electric toothbrush in the bathroom! The food is excellent, we had the bouillabaisse which delicious and was such a generous portion that there was no room for dessert. Very good service from all the staff. Highly recommended.

What a great find ! Stopped here as we needed a midway stopover on our journey and we are so pleased we did. The pub bar has a traditional pub feel to it, rather than ' modern Gastro Pub', but when you walk in to the restaurant area you are transformed in to a much more modern dining experience. The menu had a surprising amount of seafood on it and not just fish n chips or salmon. We ended up having a whole lemon sole and it was first class. Clearly the chef and kitchen staff take a lot of pride in their food and the waiting service matched this also. There are only 3 rooms at the pub. We had room 3 which had a lovely large bed and walk-in shower in the bathroom. The furnishings were to a very high standard and the bed was very comfortable. Having fresh milk and water in the mini fridge was a nice touch for morning beverages. Breakfast again was delicious, with a good selection available. We will definitely come back to the Swan Inn and this time stay for several nights so we can explore the local area.
