We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights just recently, first arrived at the hotel, the reception was polite enough but not as helpful as any front desk staff coud be. The room was clean and comfy, location was fantastic, environment was superb (quite, few hote guests). But somehow my wife lost her wedding ring from our room. We only noticed by the end of the day, and should have picked up earier. Mr. ************, the hotel manager, made it even worse from a travellers point of view. He has the worse attitude to the whole incident, instead of offering his empathy, he pushed responsibility back to the hotel guests who lost the wedding ring in his room at his hotel. His passive aggression is throughout all the poor google review! He reacted bluntly when questioned about CCTV other than the door access record he could provide immediately, being agreesive at his answer and attitude towards to someone who turned over the room to just look for the missing ring. He was not friendly, empathatic nor welcoming despit he is in hospitality industry. Im not blaming at anyone here or making any accusation on anyone but he as the hotel manager was the only one we could seek help for in a foreign country, and he expected us undedstanding how police and system worked here. To us, he made us sound like *****s and being forgetful on our own properties.

The Ibis Christchurch has a cute boutique feel to it. Security is great as the front door locks at 10 pm and you use your room key to get in. My room had a fridge, kettle, walled toiletries, and a/c (hurray!). For some reason I got an accessible room on different floors on both hotel stays. The bathroom is huge, but I can’t see a wheelchair in the bedroom section as it was a bit tight near the bed. The bed was comfortable & the room was clean. Breakfast was the usual fare of hash brown, mushrooms, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, baked goods, cereal, fruits & juices. I love the coffee machine. Our tour had dinner at the hotel that consisted of fruit salad, minestrone soup, chicken in mushroom sauce, baked ziti, and veggies which were decent. I am not sure if the restaurant is usually open for dinner and what their menu consist of. The staff during breakfast was friendly and attentive. Location of the hotel is perfect as it is near everything, especially Riverside Market. There is a mini mart & souvenir shop next door, as well as a little metro supermarket 5 minutes away on Lichfield Street.

The hotel is in a great location, but it is a big hotel. The staff are very pleasant and they make it feel more personal. It is close to shops, restaurants / cafes, the tram and most of what Christchurch city has to offer. We booked direct with the hotel, a good price for the location, but our studio room had a view of a carpark and other room windows. The room was big enough but an extra chair would have been better. We did not like the uncomfortable pillows and the extremely heavy bed cover we had to remove. We don’t normally ask for clean towels each day, but had to with no where to hang to dry sufficiently and no electric towel hanger like we have had in most other hotels we’ve stayed in NZ. Overall a pleasant stay and no problem with valet parking.

How many adjectives can I use to explain our experience with this magnificent establishment? Beautiful, classy, pristine, welcoming, warm! It is a step back in time in the right way. They have encapsulated the essence of what the early 1900s may have been like with the bar staff being spot on, cheerful and skilled. The decor is grand, making you picture the pastimes grandeur. The pool and gym area are to die for and it takes on a different feel when u are beneath ground level. Our two bedroom suite was no less than perfect in every way. Bed comfy and huge, bathrooms on point. Even with a 12 yr child in tow, we were never made to feel less than welcomed and special. No road noise, no neighbouring sounds. Even the gentleman doing the early morning cleanup on the entrance was pleasant and helpful. Will return next time we visit Christchurch.

Accommodation is good. My criticism of the hotel is the customer service in the bar. Tiny pours of wine, barman kept calling me (female business traveller) ”dear” - didn't point out that the beer I ordered in happy hour (after I enquired which drinks were discounted) was not included in happy hour....As a lone female business traveller I want to feel welcome, not patronised. The whole point of hospitality staff is that they are hospitable and your staff seemed to not have really grasped how to do that. I frequently stay at Accor hotels and love the friendliness of the staff - (Pullman Rotorua is an example of excellent customer service). Christchurch was an anomaly.

Stayed four nights at this hotel which has a great location and within walking distance to most attractions and restaurants. Check in was good and paid parking plentiful. Unfortunately, the lift was not working on our arrival so we had to leave our luggage in our car and walk up to the third floor. The hotel is dated and grubby as was our room. There was a trolley of dirty towels and linen left in the hallway for over 24 hours during our visit, this is unacceptable! The bed was comfortable but the bathroom towels were very thin. One day we returned to our room at 4.00pm and the room was not made up. I understand the vacated rooms are made up first but after a full day of sightseeing, it would be good to return to a tidied room. I have stayed at various Quest hotels in Australia as I am a member but this is by far the worst. As such, I could not recommend this hotel to other travellers.

My room was not cleaned up despite me putting up a door notice for housekeeping for the day. When I returned to my room in the evening, I was told to my surprise that my booking did not include housekeeping. The website of Breakfree at Cashel mentioned housekeeping is available. I was not informed that my booking omitted this service. Furthermore, I was told to collect new towels by myself at the counter. I just don't feel the hotel is not up to the mark in this aspect. Other things I am not quite happy about is that the room space is too small for easy packing and unpacking of my luggage but I suppose I get what I paid for, which is ok. I have decided to move to other hotel for the rest of my journey in Christchurch for the above reasons .

Excellent location! So close to everything in the city centre, we used the valet parking service and didnt take the car out once!, we could easily walk everywhere. We stayed 3 nights in a 1 bedroom suite, which was nice and clean, well appointed, and with a super comfy bed. They even had a wee sewing kit and a toothbrush kit, which are definitely things we've needed on our travels! Facilities in the hotel were great and staff were very friendly and attentive. Quintin from concierge was so helpful, and helped make our stay extra special by organizing wine and platters and delivering balloons to our room for our arrival :) Breakfast was also really yummy. Thank you Fable Christchurch! We really enjoyed our stay :)

Comfortable hotel in Heart of City. Booked a room using points as a Gold Elite. Requested quiet room and was appointed 3rd floor over traffic lights so receptionist kindly moved me to a room on opposite side. It was quiet however the walls are thin and I can hear a lot of noise this morning - a lot of noise. Room service eggs were excellent, as was bar service last night. They know how to make a good drink. I was a bit annoyed as mini bar knocked this am and said she thought there was “no one in the room” whilst I was on a call. Not so professional. Can recommend as a good hotel in Christchurch (I’ve stayed in quite a few)

AAnonymous UserStaff is very friendly and check in on counter was fairly easy. The staff saw that we had a lot of luggages and let us bring the airport trolley to our room. So the next day we just push the trolley from hotel to airport. Which is very convenient for us with many luggages. I will definitely come back this hotel again for next stay due to the location and friendly staff. Hotel buffet was good too. And nice view from the restaurant.

GGuest UserThe V motel is conveniently located within walking distance of a shopping mall and grocery store and a 15-minute drive to the airport. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is large, clean and very well-equipped. It has all the things that a business traveller needs, except for an iron and ironing board. The bed is comfortable and the towels and linings are clean. The Sony TV is large with Youtube and Netflix. It even provides some cereals and bananas, milk and yogurt for breakfast or snacks. The internet is fast and instructions, passwords are clear and easy to follow. Lastly, the price is fair and very affordable. I highly recommend this motel and would come back to it the next time.

GGuest UserWe arrived at the hotel around 5pm - busy time on the road, and it is a pretty busy road (though quieted down after rush hour). The hotel is in a residential area, not too far from the Arena, but not any shops/restaurants right nearby. One could walk to these places - about 20 minutes away, but I wouldn't be that keen at night even though the owner said the area was very safe. The owner got us quickly checked in. She didn't offer any milk or give us the wifi like all the other motels we've ever stayed in, but otherwise she was friendly and efficient. Our room (#10) was upstairs, about halfway back. I was a bit worried about the noise (i'm a super light sleeper), but once we were in the room it was quiet. The space is small (we had a queen bed 1bdroom?) and a bit weirdly laid out, but very clean - which was really the most important thing. There was a closet with iron/board/ extra pillows and blankets which is always great, and a tiny fridge for snacks. The bed was clean and comfy, nice and dark too with the curtains closed and door shut. The bathroom was tidy, nice to have small shampoo/conditioner, and the water pressure was spot on. We couldn't find any details in the book about wifi, we ended up going to the office and getting it as I tried calling from the room and it just kept ringing out. Don't know the issue - she was in the office. She said there was a 'white paper with the wifi code written on it' in the room - finally found it in the bedroom. Overall a good, quick 1 night stay.

GGuest UserWe had confirmed bookings via Agoda for 2 nights at this motel, for 2 adults and our 2 young grandchilden. On attempting to check in the person in the office said we had a booking for one night only for 2 people. This person said she would not honour the bookng as she did not trust Agoda. After a very long and almost heated debate we phone agoda. They were amazing and contacted the motel while we waited on the phone. This office person would still not honour the booking even after talking to Agoda. Agoda ensured that the motel would not be charging us. Fantastic service from Agoda, but be warned, don;t ever go near Annabelle Court Motel. The person in reception should not be in the hospitality industry.

I did not stay in a dorm room but the whole building makes such a good impression with good vibes that I would recommend it to anyone, even a solo traveler, especially the May bar where everything is reasonably priced.
