Chadderton|1.65km from Christ Church Chadderton
My parents have been using this hotel for a while now as it’s close to family members in the outskirts of Manchester. We have stayed for a wedding here once before too. We had high hopes for the deluxe rooms we had all booked. We knew we would be arriving slightly earlier at after midday (even with the snow) on the Saturday we stayed, so phoned to check it was okay. We were told that it would be fine and our rooms would be ready. The manager had also spoken to my family and said they would make sure we got “the best” rooms in the deluxe category. We arrived just after midday, and were told we’d have to wait for the rooms to be ready (which is fine) we went and got a drink and used the free drink voucher promised (we had to ask for it) in no time our 2 rooms were ready. We got to our deuce rooms and to say we were underwhelmed is an understatement. Our room was drab, looked well used and had a lack of care it seemed. The first thing that hit us was that the room looked, and was small. When stayed before we were in a standard room and that was much bigger. The bed is supposed to be a King, but it looked much smaller. It was covered in a thin crisp white quilt and just 2 small pillows. No other pillows were to be found (no extra towels either) There was a lack of natural light in the room, which we soon realised was because the view from the window was a brick wall. This to me doesn’t say deluxe. The next thing we noticed was the damaged furniture and fittings throughout. Burn marks on the table (from a cigarette?) and chips and sections missing. The bathroom was okay. The bath area was clean enough but not like it was cleaned daily or every other day etc. with grime in the corners. We left for the day and came back and decided to ask for extra pillows that were provided with no issue from a lovely night receptionist. Sadly there must have been an event last night and the door to the corridor we were staying in was left open (even though we kept closing it) and we kept having children running, shouting and knocking on all our room doors for about an hour (around midnight) We went for breakfast the next day and the disappointment continued. Most of the hot food was missing (we had to ask) no cups or glasses for juice or tea/coffee (we had to ask) and the employee went off and chatted to her work colleague in the upper level behind a partial screen, rather than do what they said they’d do. A lovely gentleman who seemed to be doing most the work got some for us a long while later. No juice left (we had to ask) We also then heard someone asking if they could get a cappuccino rather than just standard coffee, and they were told to go get one from the bar in another part of the hotel. Would it have hurt to stopped the chat you were having with the other employee at the entrance to the dining area and just helped the customer get one? Really disappointing experience, and we will go back to booking in the city centre of Manchester in the future for
