The hotel is located in the outskirts of Calvi, about 2.5 miles from the town centre and well away from the crowds swirling around. It sits on a bit of a hill so the Citadel is still visible particularly form the upper floors. The hotel provided a daily shuttle up until 10pm to the Calvi marina which was handy for beach excursions as well as restaurants there. The charge for the service was €20 per day per room. Our Deluxe Room on the top floor had a great panoramic views of the sea from the balcony if only obscured by the trees. The room was of fairly standard size although in places it was rather tight. Decorated in rather ritzy style. There was a large wardrobe and plenty of storage space. Bathrobes and slippers were provided. There was a safety box. WiFi signal was good. TV selection was reasonable – there were three English-speaking channels. The bathroom was on the small size with walk-in shower. Tea and coffee-making facilities were available although we had to ask for milk. There was a fridge available too. We dined at La Tavola restaurant, on the side of the swimming pool, and the food was very reasonable with a good selection of Corsican wines. Breakfast, also at TLA Tavola, was varied and plentiful. The staff, particularly at the reception, were very friendly and helpful. We really liked the hotel, it was nice and happy but struggled to see how the five-star classification was justified, we feel the most it should have been awarded was four star tops, in every category. Hence the lower mark than it would otherwise be.
