A well reviewed B&B which we were looking forward to visit prior to boarding the ferry to N.I. We had room with a 4 poster bed and a sea view. We were greeted by Maggie who made us feel very welcome. She also advised us that the venue would be closing next week as it has been sold to a private buyer as a family home.

A lovely guest house with a fabulous view and friendly, helpful bubbly host. Stayed overnight as early morning ferry which is less than 5mins from the guest house. Our room was a very generous size. Bear in mind though that nearby shops shut fairly early

The host was lovely, couldn’t do enough for us. Praise to Maggie indeed and she was amazing. The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable, amazing views. Would return. Breakfast was prompt and plentiful, set us up for the day. Very handy for the ferry to Northern Ireland.

You could not get a better host than Maggie! We stayed at the Auld Cairn coming off the late ferry from Belfast. We were greeted at the door with a warm smile and welcome. The breakfast was the BEST we have ever had!

We had a lovely room- clean with a great en suite. Tea tray was lovely with personal touches. Left too early for breakfast but the room and set up looked great. Clean towels and robes. Modern room and nice powerful shower. Maggie was lovely- apologies again about not updating the time! Elizabeth X

Stranraer Golf Club is only a 15-minute drive away. Wigtown, known as the Scottish Book Town is about 40 minutes’ drive, and features castles, beaches, harbours, forests, rivers and hills.
