On the 26/5/24, I had an evening meal there. I ordered the veggie burger with hand cut potato chips. The burger was absolutely saturated with an over-sweet sauce. Also the salad had obviously been placed on top of the burger and then put in the oven to be "crisped". The result was that the Lettuce ended up by being baked into the bun. The burger was awful. The only good thing about this meal were the chips. It was my first night staying in Blue Anchor. Had I not been hungry - and known of somewhere else to eat - I would have asked for my money back. Also, I felt that the waiting staff were not happy. This meal was not worth the £16 that I paid for it. At that price, I expect restaurant quality food, on this occasion, the standard fell far below that.

Friendly staff lovely log fire burning. Clean tidy small pub. Some locals friendly , lovely garden area entrance via garden is easier access rather than stairs. Did not eat but sounded like they get busy for food easy to find just along the beach road

We visited the Smugglers Inn with our dogs whilst walking along the coastal path. Lots of outdoor seating which was great. There was a terrific selection of drinks, the Sunday roast was excellent and the bar staff were incredibly friendly.

Fantastic service and food. Great atmosphere and the food was delicious. We went back the next night as it was so good. Prawn cocktails were delicious, fish and chips amazing. Gammon and salad were fabulous too. Would highly recommend. Those chips. Wow.

Visited for Sunday lunch, one of the best traditional Sunday lunch I have had ( outside of my own of course ) ! All home cooked, very tender beef, roast and mash potatoes, parsnips and fab Yorkshire pudding, sides of swede, carrots and cauliflower cheese. Four adults and an 11 yr old cleared their plates. Well done chef lovely job and will recommend.

The Smugglers was a haunt of ours in our early 20’s so now in our 60’s we decided to return for a lunch time meal. We were definitely not disappointed. Friendly welcome and really tasty and good value food. Will definitely be back when next in the area.

The food is excellent and all freshly made by the owner. This is a lovely old pub with lots of history. And plenty of ghostly stories attached to it. Very welcoming and sociable hosts. We had a great New Year's Eve and enjoyed a quiet celebration watching the fireworks on the tv.

We went for food and whilst it was enjoyable and we ate it all, we just didn’t feel it was worth the price. We had starters that cost £8 each, one was pigs in blankets, which consisted of two sausages and two rashers of bacon. I just felt like we would have gotten more for the cost. We also had a meat pie, that was disappointing, the size of it was just slightly bigger than a mini pork pie. Can’t fault the greeting and the taste but just not value for money I’m afraid. Will we be returning, no! Would I recommend it, sadly not!

I was due to stay here for a few nights in November. Despite cancelling in line with the policy the Smugglers Inn took the £300 from my account and refused to refund. Absolutely appalling, pretty much called a liar by the manager when I tried to sort. The reason for my cancellation was a family illness which led to a death and there was zero compassion or understanding. Absolutely awful service. Avoid at all costs or it might cost you!
