Sub par dinner food was good but everything else was not pools and dinning was dirty would not stay there again

I believe the Riu Bambu is a very nice place which I enjoyed a lot. The pools around the property, the restaurants, the parties were great. One of the things I didn't like is the quality of the coffee; it was very nasty. The other thing that caught my attention is the poor customer service from the personnel at Riu: most of them were serious, seemed annoyed when you asked for a favor, and if they decided to help you, they would look at you like upset and would kind of toss things close by you.

It is old, dirty and the food served cold . Toilet did not work properly. You have to get your own beverages at the pool, beach and lobby. No room service. . However, the pool party was great.

The family room didn’t have normal beds, only one bed was fine but the other one was the pull up sofa bed.
This resort is only good for two people not for family two. The sofa bed is absolutely not comfortable, you basically slipping on the floor. I paid full price for four people . I’ve been in much better resorts.
If you are the family of 4 pick a different resort.

The property from the entrance looks beautiful however the rooms are dirty, outdated, and many in working things in the rooms. The food was terrible with the exception of the steakhouse. However, you will be told you don’t need a reservation and then arrive for dinner and be told you can’t be seated without a reservation. The drinks are not premium at all and not even close to an actual good well brand. I’ve been to many all inclusive resorts and by far this was the worst when it came to food, cleanliness in the rooms and drinks.
The pros are the pools are very nice, the parties are fun however the entertainment nightly is very boring. The beach is right there and clean. You have a lot of people trying to sell you things but they’re respectful so it wasn’t really bothersome once you said no. We personally will never stay at this property again

My room fridge was leaky, bed mattress was hard like a stone. Staff kept knocking on door between 730am to 9am randomly even though the do not disturbed sign was on the door.
Food was mediocre
Drinks were ok. Mostly off label spirits.
If you want a good Riu resort experience go to cancun.

My boyfriend and I traveled to DR in celebration of his 51st birthday. I was excited to stay at the Riu property as I have stayed in their Costa Rica and Jamaica
properties and enjoyed it. The Riu Bambu was an absolute disappointment. On our first night there the air conditioner stopped working. We called for repair and someone arrived to fix it. The next morning it went out again. There were small bugs crawling around the room so we kept our luggage packed up and tried to keep them from crawling into our belongings. We mentioned it to them that evening and were told that they did not have any available room to move us to. We asked if we could be moved the next day after some guests have checked out. They said they would try but could not make any promises. The food is terrible! That is not an exaggeration. The buffet food is flavorless and always cold. The property and the rooms are past due for renovations and updating. After the first night we decided we would book at stay at the new Secrets Tides resort and check out of Riu Bambu. This was the best choice we could have made. Upon checking out from the hotel we had another 6 nights booked for Riu but requested a refund due to the before mentioned issues. I called the travel agency to report our issues and ask for refund for the remaining nights. They attempted to call the resort for 30 min straight and could not reach anyone in the reservations dept. The final result is they declined to refund. Don’t book here!
