The room was really maintained. It was a bit chilly as the radiator seemed out of order. But overall the amenities were sufficient. The availability of hot kettle with tea and coffees were really convenient. I'd love to stay again sometime.(picture below is the view from our room)

I slept one night (25-26 November 2023), alongside with two friends. The location is perfect. The dormitories were fine, the temperature was perfect and the beds were clean and comfortable. However, the windows really need to be replaced, because they are way too thin, resulting in poor noise insulation. While I was trying to sleep, the dormitory was quiet, but I could not sleep well because of the noise coming from street (especially drunk people shouting loudly), which was as strong as if a window was wide open. The bathroom was perfect with showers, toilets and taps. It's the perfect deal if you want to visit Bath for one night or two, acknowledging that you will stay in the hostel only to sleep. I would also advise the hostel to tell its customers on the booking description that they bring a padlock with them to lock the storage cages located under the beds. Because on their own description they just say that they sell padlocks, but don't explain why. I always have one in my backpack, so I could lock my stuff, but it was not the case of my two friends, who therefore took their backpack in town with them.
In the heart of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, our hotel is less than 10 minutes from dozens of parks, museums, and historic sites. Last month we stayed in the Premier Inn 100 yds down the road from the Hampton and boy the hotels are like chalk and cheese with the Hampton winning hands down. Reception brighter with plenty of cheerful receptionists to check you in. Rooms are well laid out with everything you need including a safe, fridge, hair drier and iron. Lovely big walk in shower with plenty of toiletries to hand and lovely fluffy towels and believe it or not flannels. Two sets are laid out in the bathroom ready for use. We had a twin room and found the beds to be larger than an average single bed, very comfortable and lovely bed linen. The TV on the wall is huge with plenty of channels to keep you entertained. Wifi is free. As for the breakfast well we found plenty of choice - sausages, mushrooms, beans, hash browns and scrambled egg. There was toast, croissants and muffins, fresh fruit, cold meats and cheese and I also spied pots of Oats so Simple you could make up and a waffle maker which was very popular. Given that this was included in the price (unlike the competitor where you have to pay an additional £9.50 for breakfast) we found it was a good enough start to our day. Location is great with the only downside, as with most city hotels, there is no on site parking. Quids cheaper than the competitor when we booked what is not to like?
Steeped in history, Bath’s Henrietta House originates from the 1780s when a ‘new town’ area of Bath was built south of the river Avon. The architect of Henrietta House and the street was Thomas Baldwin who worked with Sir William Pulteney to divide up what had been river meadows.Today, Henrietta House offers a centrally located, tranquil setting with accommodation in 21 unique rooms.13;10;Bath was one of the most exclusive and glamorous cities in the entire world in the 1700s. Home to celebrated names such as Thomas Gainsborough (painter), Admiral Phillip (founder of Australia), and William Herschel (discoverer of Uranus), Bath was a spa town and retreat for the wealthy. A place where the upper echelons of British society could decamp from their country estates and London town-houses to meet, revel and make new connections over the summer months. The city was filled with the bustle of servants, the clatter of hooves and the chatter of the upper classes, gossiping over tea or duelling at the card table.13;10;Bath’s pre-eminence as ‘the place to be seen’ began to decline in the late 1700s. Whilst seaside resorts such as Brighton became the new fashionable hotspots for the privileged, Bath’s allure as a place of culture, healing and relaxation never disappeared entirely. Over two nights during the Second World War, Bath suffered heavy bombing, destroying much of the city close to the river. The scars of this trauma are evident in the entanglement of old and new buildings scattered across the city today.13;10;Bath is now as popular as ever. It is home to a large student population, drawn by the city’s two esteemed universities. Travellers flock to the city to admire the architecture and peruse the Roman Baths – the grandest amp; best preserved example in northern Europe. Meanwhile, the residents proudly inhabit a UNESCO world heritage city (courtesy of Bath’s Georgian architecture), and its streets are regularly employed as sets for film and TV, starring in films such as ‘The Duchess’, ‘Vanity Fair’ and ‘Sense...

The hotel service is first-rate, the front desk staff is super nice, the lady will chat with you by the way, if necessary, a cup of tea and coffee will be made during the waiting time, especially sweet. I was worried about the room’s small and specially set standard room. When I entered the room, I felt that the space was quite large. We brought two 28-inch boxes and there was no problem at all. We ordered the main course for breakfast according to the menu. The buffet cakes were very authentic. The style, Egg Benedict is very good, but don’t try blood pudding lightly. I am not used to it no matter how many times I eat it. Bath is very small and all attractions can be reached on foot. The hotel is 7-8 minutes walk from the Roman baths, bath abbey is opposite the baths, and the famous thermae bath spa is 3 minutes away from abbey. The house of Jane Austen and the fashion meseum are on the same road, even the farthest The Royal Crescent is only a 15-minute walk away.
It should be noted that the check-in time is after 3 pm and check-out before 11 am. Although the time is a bit tight, this service is really the best in the English-style hotel I have ever stayed in. When we put down the suitcase and go When we turn to the city, we have already put it in the room when we come back. When we check out, we will chat with the young lady at the front desk. Not only will I give you travel suggestions but also recommend the hotel to you, we talked about our trips, no I feel that I am staying in a hotel, it is very warm, highly recommended😉

A lovely building with a nice forecourt area, reception was very welcoming, bright and cheerful. All the staff we spoke to were lovely and helpful. The only bad point was not having a car park, but they do offer discount on the nearby public car parks.

Outstanding
GGuest UserI thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Chestnuts Boutique B&B! I was able to park up my car at the front of the establishment and walk around Bath for the rest of my visit! Attractions and places of interest were around a 15 minute walk away- which is fantastic!
The host was so helpful and attentive.
My room was clean and comfortable! I had access to plenty of wardrobe space,a TV with Netflix, a fridge, kettle and a well stocked box of tea treats (& fresh cakes too!)
Breakfast was gorgeous and fresh. There were plenty of local leaflets available to read about local events and attractions too.
Thank you very much!
GGuest UserThe hotel was recommended by my son. I was really surprised. The bed was super comfortable. It is close to the train station, convenient for travel, and the service attitude is particularly good.
SSkyshanghaiSumptuous would be the word to describe this hotel. From the lobby to the room to the free snacks pantry, everything is sumptuous. The room we booked is absolutely huge with high ceilings and large windows. The bed and bedding is super super comfortable and we slept really well. The bathroom is nice with a big tub. Location is also excellent, minutes from downtown, the bridge and Roman baths. Looking forward to staying here again.
余余The hotel is huge! It is located on a small hillside in the outskirts of Bath. The scenery is pleasant. At night, you can overlook the night view of Bath and see the stars. Convenient transportation, the hotel is on the main road to the center of Bath, and the highway from the city is also very close. There is a lot of free parking for self-driving. There are a number of bus lines directly to the city centre of Bath next to the hotel. It is convenient to have buses from morning to night. The hotel is large, with many rooms, clean and comfortable, and soundproof. The rooms are modern and fully equipped, and the mattress pillows are comfortable. The hot and cold water pressure in the bathroom is very stable, and there are many tea and coffee options in the mini bar in the room. The closet has a sense of opening and closing the door, so I thought very carefully. The wireless network is stable and there are many choices for TV stations. Breakfast selection. The service staff was very kind and caring. I will choose to stay at this hotel in the future.
ZZhanqianyingSmall luxury hotel I feel relieved to see that it is SLH, but it is unusually understaffed. From check-in to dining in the restaurant, you have to wait, wait, wait. If you don’t understand English, please don’t come. Most of the employees look like college students who work part-time and cannot solve the problem alone. question.
The restaurant and bar are good, the room is very big, you need to take the stairs to the first floor, and the bathroom is half a floor up. The swimming pool is small and there are many people. There is a sauna, but it was useless because the temperature was 30 degrees on the day of arrival.
Charging the tram is also very funny. It took a long time to fully charge it.
GGuest UserAt first check-in, staff said my booking’s payment was failed, I showed my booking confirmation with clearly stated payment successful, then he printed a confirmation for me to sign but I found that’s another one’s booking… totally another name…
The 2nd print out was just showing my name without another personal information and I was told it’s okay to sign…
Once I entered my room, there’s no bath tub, I called the concierge and claimed that when I booked this room type, photo clearly showed there’s bath tub and that’s why I chose this more expensive room type, staff just told me only Superior King room type offered bath tub…
When I tried to take a shower, there’s no shower gel & face tissue in the toilet… what a big surprise that a so called 4 stars hotel could provide such service standard…
I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel to anyone going to BATH for a visit…
And what’s more, this is my Birthday trip with more than 3 hrs drive from the North, they really gave me a BIG surprise!!
吕吕The location is amazing. If you come to Bath by train, you must stay at this hotel. It is just across the road from the train station, and it is convenient to go shopping. Very old English hotel with great breakfast and great service.
MmomononoBath Abbey Hotel, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Property
I booked this hotel in Bath through trip.com. I took advantage of two promotions on the platform: a £5.99 railcard purchase and £5 off train tickets, both requiring booking a European hotel within 26 days through trip.com. Considering that the official website’s prices were quite similar, I went with the trip.com booking. I reserved a cozy room for 1 adult without breakfast for £113. Money-saving tip: I used TopCashback to access trip.com, earning $7.67 cashback for this booking. After I checked out, trip.com triggered an immediate discount of £10.46, which I applied to my next train ticket purchase.
❤️ Third-party Marriott members get perks, too!
This hotel falls under the Marriott Tribute Portfolio, embracing a boutique hotel approach. The entire establishment dates back to 1739, boasting a historic exterior. It’s conveniently situated just about 3 minutes’ walk from the Roman Baths and across from Sally Lunn’s. With my Marriott Platinum Card, even with a third-party reservation, the hotel upgraded us to a larger ground floor room facing the street after matching our account, but it’s not advisable due to potential noise. They also offered complimentary à la carte breakfast. Breakfast slots had to be reserved during check-in, and we chose a table at 10 AM. The breakfast was abundant, and the restaurant had a charming and lovely atmosphere. The experience was excellent (the best things are free!). Unfortunately, I don’t have space for more photos, but I’ll post one of the restaurant later.
The room was quite small, designed in a modern British style, with a movie-themed decor according to the posters on the wall. All the amenities were provided, with local brand toiletries available for purchase at the front desk for £25 for two bottles. They were decent, but nothing extraordinary to consider bringing back home. The minibar had coffee, various teas, semi-skimmed milk packets, and biscuits. The bottled still water was in an aesthetically pleasing canned form.
🌟 There’s an Elemis sleep kit on the bedside: temple balm/sleep mist/eye cream, placed over a hotel postcard, looking quite exquisite.
The bed was very comfortable.
❌ However, there were a few drawbacks to this place… a bit unnerving… I’m not sure if I just had bad luck. The hotel corridors were somewhat confusing, and I accidentally opened the wrong room door once using my own room card. Strangely, the next day around ten o’clock, while I was in the bathroom and my son was on the bed, despite securing the latch on our door, someone managed to open it slightly, presumably seeing my son on the bed, and then closed the door. Perhaps it was a housekeeping staff member wanting to clean the room? Regardless, it felt quite odd… a little unsettling, to be honest
JJingxuanziThe hotel is close to the University of Bath, but a little far from the city center of Bath; if you are traveling by car, it is not recommended to book; self-driving travel is recommended, the room is very good. good external environment
GGuest UserPositives - excellent receptionist (Vipin) and without his help I would have probably checked out early. Has parking. Reasonable location and access into central Bath. Has an electric kettle and a pack of cookies.
Not so positives - In desperate need of upgrade, creaking floors, wash basin outside the bathroom. It isn’t for work related travellers as you cannot even use an iron without tripping off the entire building main switch and once that happen there is no 24 hour active reception. No fan or iron provided in room so you have to ask. Tiny computer monitor used as a make shift TV that you have to pull out of a closet. No drinking water in room. Value for money not there as many better locations available at same or lower price.
