We've been a few times now for lunch and dinner and it never disappoints. The menu is creative and delicious. The staff are always excellent, friendly (and funny!), attentive but not intrusive. Perfect for a special evening out with friends or a celebration.

This hotel really does need a refurb. The first room we were shown was in the basement and was really dark plus the furnishings were very poor. We did change rooms and it was an improvement, but for the money it is not good value. The location is the best thing about it and they don’t seem to have any competition hence the price. Unless this hotel has a major makeover I would not recommend it.

Avoid this new management at all costs! We were looking forward to our long awaited favourite restaurant in Aubeterre. Having visited the area for 13 years and this being our first time since lockdown. The previous owners were a delight, but what a let down now. We were met with a surly greeting and waited whilst sat at our table in searing humidity for 15 minutes without menus. We were ignored twice upon speaking to a waiter, who then stood around chatting to a coworker! Given the premium style and cost of this restaurant, we quickly realised these new owners would be disappoint. A huge shame as the old owners were lovely and vested in the quaint place. End of an era.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but we did eat at the restaurant several times -= so this is a restaurant review!!!! And it is a good restaurant with a talented chef. In fact, we ate there 4 times, one of them being Bastille Day when there was a special menu to celebrate. The food is beautifully presented and the ingredients are of high quality - evident in the vivid flavours! I had everything from shellfish to pork and they were all brilliant, as were the fish that my wife ate. Having eaten in a number of restaurants in Aubeterre, I would say that this is the best restaurant in the town! Well worth a visit!

This was very disappointing. Not a cheap lunch with a set menu for Mother’s Day. The dishes were definitely style over substance. The service was a bit lack-lustre and it felt they really weren’t bothered whether we enjoyed it or not, upsetting as my parents spent a lot on this as a family celebration and it really let itself down.

Visiting friends a village nearby, we booked this auberge on spec and were not disappointed. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Located at the base of this beautiful town it was perfect for your needs. The service was friendly and the buffet breakfast was just right. A short walk to the outstanding Tapazeria and amazing subterranean church of Saint-Jean ( see separate reviews) and close to the lovely Dronne river this is great spot for a stop-over.

Très bonne prestation pour le rapport qualité prix. Bon restaurant avec des portions adaptées aux prix. Du goût 👅 des saveurs étonnantes.que du bonheur.merci au chef .pour avoir fait des repas végane et végétariens. Bravo et merci pour la visite de la cuisine qui et vraiment très propre.

Avis sur un restaurant finalement très moyen sur lequel nous nous sommes rabattus car la carte paraissait alléchante. Service agréable au bord de la piscine mais à par ça que reste t-il? Hors d'oeuvre avec ravioles aux langoustines où on cherche encore la langoustine, entrées aux portions congrues, plats corrects sans aucune personnalité, vins horriblement chers. Une adresse qu'on peut éviter mais Aubeterre ne semble pas le meilleur endroit pour bien manger!

Nous sommes allés déjeuner en famille : service impeccable, goûts renouvelés, surprenants mais parfaitement équilibrés!!! Au menu, entre autres, noix de St-Jacques à la crème de Trappe d’Echourgnac à la noix (fromage de la région) ou encore glaces faites maison à la lavande et à l’estragon… une merveille!!! 2 heures de bonheur à table pour une belle expérience gustative dans un cadre charmant!!! À recommander chaudement
