Whittaker's Motel & Historic Bunkhouse

Ahead of booking, we had a fair amount of doubts based on the reviews written here. But we loved this place! It seems family run and the other guests we encountered were pleasant. The cafe is so cute and everything we tried was amazing. We loved sitting out at the picnic tables and on the porch. The location is really prime for a few different hiking spots so we headed out early and looked forward to coming back here both days. Honestly, close to nature, a comfy private room, coffee, pizza (next door) and ice cream — say no more!
Gateway Inn & Cabins

This cabin is a freestanding building that gives a fell of being in the woods alone. It is less than 100 yards from the Nisqually entrance to mount Rainier. is also located close to a great restaurant called the Copper Creek definitely not to be missed.
Nisqually Lodge

We stayed at this hotel after staying in the one next door, We forgot to book an extra day in the other hotel so we hastily made our way to this one. The lady at the front desk was more than helpful and understanding off our situation and gave us a room, the room itself was fantastic, we had a coffee maker and coffee was even served in reception. The bed was comfy however our shower was a tad bit strange, if you wanted hot you had to turn the knob to cold and if you wanted cold you had to turn the knob to hot. This was quite a funny experience as I got in. Overall would come back to the Lodge again.
Alexander's Lodge

When considering a stay near Mount Rainier National Park, the options are limited and prices are high. We picked Alexander’s Lodge and were very happy. We mostly wanted a clean hotel with comfortable beds and this hotel does great with both of those areas. The beds and pillows were comfortable and our room with two beds was very large. The WIFI worked great and there was a microwave and refrigerator. The location is key here as it is very close to the Nisqually park entrance. The room also included a guest book with recommendations for restaurants, etc, which we found helpful. My daughter and I found the included breakfast a great addition. They said it would not be delivered until after 7:30am, but ours was there by 6am. We had ordered in advance the hard boiled eggs and they stayed great in our cooler until late morning at the park when we needed a snack. I’m not sure what more you could want because you won’t find any Marriotts or chain hotels in this area. If you need those types of properties then you should plan to stay further away. Yes, the price was not low but it was the same or lower than anything else we found and had better reviews than many. We did see a staff member upon our arrival who asked us if everything was going ok. The one thing I did really wish they had was an ice machine, but there was a gas station on the other side of town where we could get ice and snacks, etc. This is an older lodge but if your priority is to be near the park entrances, Alexander’s Lodge is a great option. We would go back again.
Paradise Village

We stayed here for 4 nights while day-hiking nearby Mt. Rainier. (Any accommodation in tiny Ashford, WA will be less than 10 minutes from the Nisqually park entrance and the closest you can stay without being IN the park at Paradise Lodge, which is pricy and closed in winter anyway). It is a weird cluster of cabins, MIL suite and mini-motel, plus maybe owners/family living on-site. The rooms are mostly as shown in site photos but the exterior is more run-down. There is no lobby or front desk; you need to check in & out at adjoining bakery (which has limited hours, 9-6). NO WiFi in the rooms despite their promises. There’s no housekeeping - we had to take out our own trash, even. They are VERY difficult to book with or change reservations - won’t do it by phone and “Yuri,” the assigned staff for this, took literally weeks for us to reach via email. When we checked out before 9 on our last day, there was no key drop; I called both bakery & hotel repeatedly (to advise that we’d checked out) only to receive “no voicemail has been set up” messages. I emailed and never received a response. Very weird and I won’t stay here again - but note that many of the nearby accommodations are closed, so search carefully for what you want.
