Amsterdam Downtown Hotel Reviews

The service was very good, nice personnel at the front desk, the room was cleaned every day and so on. Very good location near the city center and therefore I can kinda understand the price of the room etc My room was on the 3rd floor, the elevator only goes to the 2nd floor, not really a big deal but a bit weird. Don't get me wrong, the room itself felt clean and fresh, nothing to complain about there besides that the shower pressure was insanly low, sometimes the water just stopped running at all during a shower... But the big issue is the size of the room itself and what you get for over a €100 a night, I booked a single room for one person, and the room feels like it's built around the frame of the bed, the room is incredible small, smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in and the most expensive one as well. The bathroom is so small that the toilet is placed just behind the sink so you barely have room to actually sit on the toilet, and the glass door to the shower can only be opened on one side... the side where the sink is so you have about 30cm of room to get out of the shower because the sink is in the way... Like I said, the room felt clean and fresh, but it is ridiculously small. Overall a good stay, the room was good enough for sleeping in but for the size of the room and what you pay for it doesn't really add up, over a €100 a night for a room barely bigger than the bed itself is kinda weird.

Good amenities. The downside is that we can hear the upstair neighbor walking and making the floor creak. The cats are cute!

The room is very small, in the downtown area, the room is not soundproof, there were guests making loud noises on the night of check-in, the noises were like tearing down the house, the sanitary conditions are average

Cons: Small rooms, walls are paper thin, no hot water when we were there. Mould in bathroom and bad smell in room when we checked in. Pros: great location next to tram and shops, comfy beds, suitable for a weekend trip when you’re barely in the room (more suitable for friends). Friendly reception. Reasonable price which includes the city tax. Would recommend for a friends budget short trip away!

We were informed that we could check in from 3 pm on the day of arrival, however, when we showed up, we had to wait 30+ minutes to check in. During the induction, you are required to put a deposit down (€50/€100) which you get at the end of your visit and a service charge. We were unaware of the hidden fees so please be aware. The room is basic as expected and it did it for us as we only used it to sleep and store luggage. You get given one key card to the room and it locks after it shuts. It is close to the centre and there are loads of coffee shops and food places nearby. There is a bike store next to the hotel which is ideal. The beds are 2 singles put together so they will move. The walls are very thin and you can hear a lot to the point you think someone is knocking at your door instead of another door. The wifi is good and they have a vending machine on the bottom floor alongside a drinks machine.

Nice hotel, friendly personel, there is 24 hours service. room is simple but clean and not so expensive .Very nice located in amsterdam. And they have parkingplace which is not expensive with good service

For 1 or 2 days is fine. We had a family room for 3 persons. The room was clean and warm. To the centre of the city. There is a minimal area with a coffee machine. The personel were very polite. The bathroom was very small.

On arrival and being directed to our room,we found a strong smell of damp in the corridor, and entering the room found damp marks on 3 out of 4 walls. On complaining to reception we’re told “the walls had been “washed”, but a strong presence of damp. Complimented by a half warm rusty radiator in the bedroom, and a stone cold towel radiator in the bathroom. My wife was told we couldn’t have an upgrade to a better room as “ there only a smaller room in the basement, or you can pay another €300 for a room on the 3rd floor.” (3 days later the smaller room became available,) it was a reluctant choice to take this smaller room as opposed to pay a further extortionate price on top of the £650 we’d already payed for our 5 night stay. Today (Friday 4th Nov) when leaving the hotel, we found ourselves locked in the basement with only one means of exit out via a steep staircase (the other exit is locked until 7.30am- great if there’s a fire) some staff were helpful, others obstructive and unhelpful. The owners were made aware of how unhappy we were with their damp,smelly room, but only gave us one choice to change rooms, to somewhere the size of small ships cabin. It’s rated 3 stars, I wouldn’t give it one.

Three chaps sharing a room with three single beds. Tight fit, but ideal for a two night stay for the football, so using as a base only. Clean room, with good on-suit bathroom with hot shower. Good location and a 12 minute walk to Dam Square.

Everything was great the only thing was that the bathroom was small the sink was almost in my face when sitting in the toilet. Besides that everything was excellent!

First off, this should be listed as a hostel and not a hotel. It was fairly clean, but it is extremely small... in terms of both the lobby/communal area and the rooms themselves. There are zero amentites besides towels and bed linens. The "family apartment" isn't really that, it's a small room with twin beds lined up so if you have luggage be prepared to try to stash it somewhere you can easily walk around (hint: you can't). I would rate this higher due to it feeling clean, but for the rate I paid I'm still astonished with what we got.
