Newly renovated rooms directly at the lake. Dining and breakfast can be taken comfortable in the pub, again with sea view! ,. It is clean, the staff very friendly. You go on wishes. There is a free parking. We recommend it in any case. Pier Ambleside directly opposite with many boat tours.

Stay far away! This place is run by monters and rasist. They turned down a family of four because despite providing them with our names, surnames, address, telefon numers and bank statements of both of us that were accessed with passwords and security details on the phone (that they were keen to look at) my husband did not have a bank card on him! I had, I was fine but the whole Family of 4 was refused (already paid for) one night stay including two children one of which was 8 months old!!!!!! Staff decided it is ok to leave us with no accommodation on a cold and wet October evening. Far away from home we were forced to spend the cold night in the car with the baby with no access to hot water to make baby a milk! We have complaned to the manager many times who really did not care and believes the staff decision to turn all 4 family down including a baby was a great one, did not refund us already paid money and said we could book a stay elsewhere on the night. If we had money to book in a hotel (and short notice) we would not have booked a stay in a hostel for £37! Disgaceful monsters!
The Waterhead Inn- the Inn Collection Group

Last minute I night stay to celebrate wedding anniversary. Stayed 5 years ago when hotel was part of English Lakes group, it has not changed much since then - some new outside furniture was all I noticed . And this is the reason for 4 not 5! Location, food and staff all great. And this is a great dog friendly hotel in the true sense that dogs can eat and stay with you in bar area and staff actively welcome them - which was one of the reasons for our return visit. Room 30 which is wheelchair accessible - just - (not for someone who is not independent as bath only and shower is fixed head) was ok. Comfy bed, nice view, convenient if you are wheelchair user. But stained carpet, rusty trims and grubby grout and cracked floor tiles in bathroom. Paintwork bashed and carpet creeping out from under door plates. Think room is overpriced for its current state. Would stay again in the hope that issues with the room will be rectified with a refurb/refresh.
The Temperance Inn, Ambleside - the Inn Collection Group
4.2/549 Reviews
Opinion on stay at Temperance Inn. As stated already this is my honest opinion on our recent stay at The Temperance Inn on Lake Road, Ambleside in the lake district.. The stay was for five nights in September 2023 and was for a couple. The bedrooms are good with comfortable beds and an excellent shower, with towels provided. There is no car parking on site, If you have no car or if you do not want to use your car then the bus station is in very close proximity, just round the corner. Bus time tables are readily available at the library just opposite the bus station.
Three Shires Inn
4.6/560 Reviews
We arrived looking to do very little during our stay and that's what we got thanks to the staff at the three shires. We were greeted on arrival by Julie who was friendly and easy to talk to. Our room was clean, well decorated and there were some fantastic pictures on the walls. We were very impressed with the bathroom, even down to the heated sensor mirror . The bed was extremely comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was delicious and we were able to relax in the lounge afterwards. There is a great choice for breakfast and Julie was a pleasure to talk to. We ate out at the Eltermere Inn the second night which I regretted as it wasn't as welcoming as the three shires. I would recommend this place to friends and family and we will be visiting again in the near future.
Briery Wood Country House Hotel

A beautiful rural hotel opposite the Lake District. The breakfast was great and the croissants were super delicious. I also asked the front desk for a few more to eat on the road and the people were very nice. Especially recommended for people traveling by car.
