Seti Abu Simbel Lake Resort

Abu Simbel|1.28km from Temple of Nefertari
Located barely a 6 minutes away from the airport, this is possibly the best hotel that one can get in Abu Simbel. Located on the shores of Lake Nasser, the hotel is a fairly large property, with some amazing views of the lake. A circular driveway led to the hotel, and while some rooms face the driveway, most of the property is behind the reception. There is a in house store selling Egyptian artefacts We were fortunate to get an early check in, which was smooth, though slightly long drawn. The rooms we were given were suites - an upgrade that was very welcome. A sitting room and a bedroom, with one and a half bathrooms between them, meant that we could really spread out. The amenities were top class, as were the furnishings. Each of the rooms had its own airconditioning unit. The wardrobes were quite spacious and there was enough space to open two suitcases comfortably - a feature that is sorely lacking in most modern properties. Safe deposit boxes were available in our rooms Abu Simbel is a sleepy town, so, even though, the hotel is at the edge of the town, there is not much to do on the outside. The hotel is a 10 minute car ride from the monuments at Abu Simbel. This permitted us enough time to recover from an early morning start and then visit the monuments as also attend a rather indifferent Sound and Light show in the evening. There is a large pool on site with wide open spaces. There are enough lounge chairs to soak in the sun for those who are so inclined. Facing west with Lake Nasser in the foreground, it offered us a brilliant sunset to watch. That sight alone, made our stay here worth the while. There are one restaurant in the premises that serves a buffet dinner and a cafe that serves a la carte items. The buffet was weighted heavily to serving non-vegetarians and hence we were forced to order items from the cafe. The pizza was insipid and the pasta was only slightly better. However, the lack of other dining options, in the town, meant that we were captive clients. Breakfast next morning was a little better, with more options for us. The ubiquitous falafel was available, as also sautéed vegetables. Pancakes were premade.available, but not to order. Check out was quite simple and did not take too long. The staff were extremely courteous throughout our stay. While a lot of tourist visit Abu Simbel as a day trip, if one has to stay overnight, this would definitely be a place to consider.
