My husband and I chose to have our honeymoon at Pangkor Laut Resort two days after our wedding, and it was the best trip of our lives so far. We had a good first impression of the resort even before we reached the resort. We had arranged in advance for land transfer from Ipoh airport to Marina Island Pangkor, and we thought to have the driver pick us up at 10am even though our flight landed at 8.30am (just in case we faced delays with our flight or at immigration) but we were surprised when he was already waiting for us when we landed at 8.30am. After a 1.5h road trip from the airport to the office, we were welcomed with a refreshing drink and towel, and was then escorted to PLR on a speedboat with one other couple (which made us feel special, haha). Upon arrival at the resort, we were again welcomed with a little refreshment and had a staff attend to us immediately, helping us to plan our itinerary for the rest of the week that we were staying there. As we were still early and the rooms were not ready, we had lunch at the Feast Village and then rested in the library, which was very cosy with a good selection of books (only downside was there were so many house lizards, though I am not sure if anything could be done to prevent them from coming). Our room at the Garden Villa was wide and spacious, and we received a congratulatory drink from the resort to celebrate our wedding as well. (It was a nice gesture, but nothing could compare to the attentiveness of the different staff we met over the week, who, upon noticing the henna stains on our hands, congratulated us warmly in person). We also loved that the Garden Villa was so near to the Feast Village and Uncle Lim's Kitchen, which we kept going back to for breakfasts, lunches and dinners, as the food options across the two kitchens were varied and more importantly, delicious. The service at the kitchens were also amazing - Chef Liza was so friendly and approachable that she made us feel at home, and Masum and Nadim went out of their way to make each dining experience feel special for us (such as seating us at places where we would have unobstructed views of the beach, and offering to take photos of us without us even thinking of it). Other experiences we had at the resort were going for the jungle walk, swimming at Emerald Bay and having lunch at Chapman's Bar, and yoga. However, our favourite activity on the resort was going for the spa experience. It was so refreshing and phenomenal, and truly, no other spa can beat PLR's spa. We were pampered from head to toe, and the different bath experiences set the spa apart from other spas out there. The staff were also so knowledgeable and generous with sharing what they know, that both my husband and I learnt so much about the natural ingredients used in our sessions. To all the Swiss Garden Beach Resort's Staff, We would like to thank each and everyone of you for making this family day event even more successful especially Ms.Sunitha. She is a wonderful and friendly person to be liased with. Each and every message she responded in a quickest way made me so convenient to converse with her. Regarding buffet management we are much satisfied with all the preparations made table arrangements as per requested, fresh seafoods, all the chef and staff members in Gayam were wonderful people and had never failed to serve us with their smiling faces especially Mr Amir yusof. Room check in, We felt much appreciated with your warmth welcome approaches made by Ms Sunitha and Mr Vikneswaran. Ms Sunitha had given a chance to us to check in much earlier than your resort's fixed time. Overally we were stunned with all your staff and services. The resort look more like an apartment, need a lot of maintenance of the building especially the corridors is so dark and scared the kids. Well feel not safe and first impression already not good.
Inside the apartment is clean, beds are clean, toilet is also very clean. Staffs in the resort are very much helpful.
The next morning we went to their cafe unfortunately it was so smoky and smell oily in that whole area. So we end up check out and try to look food around that area.

I stayed at the place for the 4th time simply because of its great location (across the the street from Pasir Bogak beach), big-spacious-comfortable rooms, big-spacious-open surrounding, reasonable price & super-nice owner. Then one might ask what's the improvement needed? 2 of them IMHO (since I like this place so much) : One, the house keeping should be a little more alert of their duty. Don't have to wait for the guest to ask for make-up rooms. Do it. Swipe. Clean the verandah. change the toilet paper and other necessary things. Two, tv reception must be improved. Don't have to put lot of channels. About 3 would do but make sure they are ”watchable” - no ”ants” or ”course sugar” on the channels/programs. Believe me, between activities, guests would very much appreciate a nice relaxing-tv-watching activity while resting in their rooms. I would. Really hope that on my 5th stay, things will be better. Overall, thumbs up to the Mr. Vijay & Mdm. Kamala (owners). The both of you are good people.FromSGD 29

It was very easy to communicate with the owner for the reservations and various arrangements prior to arrival. I was welcomed and shown around and my scooter was ready for me to discover the island. My room was basic but good enough. The outside area where guests can enjoy a drink looking at the life on the sea was pleasant. The guesthouse is located in the Chinese village and you can discover the laid-back life style of the Chinese community, the shipyard, the anchovies factory,...all at walking distance. I had a nice one night stay. Yet, I have been quite disappointed by the island itself having so little to offer. One night was enough.SOLD OUT

he hotel looks decent on the outside and the location is quite secluded and not bustling with people or cars.
The receptionist was really friendly. The hotel has two levels but there are no elevators so you have to take the stairs. The pricing was average. The room was really nice but the tv reception was quite low. There's a water heater/cooler and ironing board.
There is no specified parking for guests and it is limited. There are grocery shops and restaurants nearby if you want to buy some things or want to grab something to eat. The wifi is okay but not terrible.
