Is Molas Resort

We visited is molas in June 22 when luckily the hotel was no where near capacity. We messaged the day before arriving to make sure that everything was ok and ask if we could check in early, 2 days after we had been there we got a response saying, ‘yeah’. To be fair they did let us check in early and stored our bags to make use of the pool on arrival and departure days. The pool area was nice with roughly 15 double sun loungers around the poolside. The food what was served was really quite nice if a little samey but overall good. The breakfast which was included was very good, traditional Continental breakfast with your tea, coffee and juices. The staff were struggling however to keep everything topped up and again it’s worth noting there were only about 40 people in the resort at this time. When around the pool there is no drinks service at your lounger, you have to go to a hatch where a very nice older gentlemen will make your drinks. We took a trip to the beach on the hotel shuttle bus (8x seater) which will set you back €10 per person. It was a short 10 minute drive to a private beach which had roughly 16 umbrellas, each with 2x sun loungers. Again if the hotel is at capacity I could only Imagine you’d have to be on the first bus out to secure your lounger for the day. The room was nice for the most part but the bathroom must have been installed in the 1980’s (hairdryer likely bought in the same period) and needs modernising asap. No iron or ironing board provided. The tv is mounted on a wall that has no comfortable area to watch it from, we didn’t watch tv once. The matress was two singles pushed together and were really hard and firm which made for a poor nights sleep. In the room there is a minibar, however it’s stocked with 2x water bottles which are 500ml and will set you back a whopping €2.50 per one. That does bring us onto the real negative side of the resort. We felt as though we were a captive audience. The breakfast is included but lunch is about €14-16 for a salad. The evening meal is a 4 course meal that costs €40 per person and is a choice of 3 meals per course. Of those 12 choices only 2 are vegetation and 1 would be vegan (fruit for desert) so they really do not cater for this dietary choice. This 4 course meal is the only choice to you have available at the resort and the nearest other restaurant is at least an hours walk or 10 minute taxi away (more on that to come). The cost of drinks is €10 for a mixer and soft drink and €5 for a bottled beer. In the supermarket of Pula (nearest town) the very same beer is €0.86, a 2L water is €0.28. It seems like it is exploiting the guests due to the location of the resort and lack of alternative options that are local. If you do choose to get a taxi into Pula that will set you back €30 each way, a journey which takes 7 minutes and about 4.5 miles. However the food in Pula is worth it, a pizza there in the local square with music and dancing on show was €8.50 and
