a small stone monument in a residential area.

    Original Text

It is a stone monument in the south of Oihama Station. I thought it was a Kannon statue, but it was different. It is said to be a stone pagoda, but it only looked like a stone monument to me. It is said to be used to memorialize the skull found in construction during the Taisho era.

    Yokosuka の Deep Spot

    Original Text

I came to Shouzan Kannon about 300m further walk from Ryoshinji Temple. A wooden hut was built on a slight flat ground under the cliff, and a stone pagoda dug as "Shouzan Kannon" is enshrined in it. In the back of the hut, there is no wall, and water drips from the ferns growing on the cliff, making it a slightly creepy spot. This memorial monument was built by local residents for memorial service by only a dozen human skeletons during the construction of National Highway No. 16 at the end of the Taisho Period. The skull was ... around the TENPO era.

A stone tower in a idyllic landscape

    Original Text

When you get off at Keikyu Oohama Station and go across the railroad tracks to the opposite side of National Highway No. 16, the atmosphere will change dramatically and you will see a peaceful mountain village landscape. There was a Shouzan Kannon in such a place. A hut like a temple was built under the cliff, and a stone pagoda without a neck was enshrined. This is a bone that was excavated in the early Showa period, when TENPO was in a bad crop, and was excavated. It seems that locals still handing flowers on a daily basis.
