It was made of reinforced concrete and was described as building in 1931. It was one of the retro buildings designated as "Otaru City Designated Historical Building No. 16". Currently, it is open as a hotel with a completely different name and only looks at the exterior of retro architecture.

This is the old Echinakaya Hotel in Otaru city. It is a historic building designated by Otaru City and has a quaint appearance. This hotel was built for foreigners, but it is not currently used. It's right next to the district called Wall Street in the north, so it's a good idea to visit it together.

The building opened as an accommodation facility for foreigners "Etchuya Ryokan" and is designated as a historic building in Otaru City. The exterior is brick-style, and it is a Western-style building that still has a sense of luxury. After "Etchuya Ryokan", it was open as "Otaru Grand Hotel Classic", but it closed in February 2009. I remember having previously reported that it was scheduled to reopen as a hotel, but as of May 2018, there was no movement and the entrance was locked.
