If you go east on National Highway 351 from Nagaoka City, you will find a gate, and if you go further, you will find a parking lot. That is the trailhead of Mt. Saw. It takes 20 minutes from Nagaoka Station. You can easily climb the mountain (which takes less than an hour) and overlook the city of Nagaoka from the top. I went in spring, but I was able to pick up the garbage, cod buds, cosiabra, and young buds of mitsuba akebi (wood buds). Yuan vegetables are also good, is a mountain rich in nature.
