The motte still exists although lowered to form a bowling green you can understand the defensive capabilities. It is a tranquil site to avoid the bustle of the city centre. Good information boards.

Lovely oasis

There is little left of the castle itself. However the ancient castle motte mound is there and provides interesting views. There is a very pleasant park around the castle, in the grounds, as it were...

Castle itself is not that great. But Castle gardens and the Church of St, Mary Castro along with Rupert's gate is a great part of Leicester history Hidden gem is Castle Inn, tiny little pub.
