Fengcai Hall

The well-known ancient ancestral halls in Kaiping were designed and built by Chinese construction craftsmen with reference to the styles of Western architecture, and were the product of cultural exchanges between China and the West. Also known as Xian Yuzhong Xianggong Temple, it was built in the 32nd year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1906) and was completed in 1914. It was built by people of Yu surnames in Kaiping and Taishan to commemorate their ancestor Yu Jing, a famous minister of the Northern Song Dynasty. Hefengcai Building is composed of two main buildings, with three entrances, six courtyards and fifteen halls, with a total area of 5,364 square meters. Its structural form not only inherits the national style of ancient Chinese architecture, but also absorbs the artistic characteristics of Western architecture. The structure is rigorous, magnificent, and unique in the architecture of overseas Chinese. Since then, the descendants of the Yu family at home and abroad have named buildings or organizations with "Style" and "Wuxi" to commemorate their ancestors.
