    A modern and elegant church. To commemorate the 450th anniversary of Xavier's landing, the Kagoshima Cathedral Xavier Memorial Cathedral (New Xavier Church), which was newly built in Terukuni-cho, Kagoshima City in 1999, was completed. The new cathedral is a three-story reinforced concrete building with a total floor area of about 1,300 square meters. The exterior is an image of a trading ship during the Great Voyage era.
