Dongfanghong Reservoir

The construction of Dongfanghong Reservoir started in July 1958. It was named after the location of the reservoir was adjacent to Dongfanghong Farm (now Hongguang Farm) in Hailun County. In the early stage of the construction of the reservoir project, it was designed by the Water Conservancy Bureau of the Songhua River Special Administration and the Hulan River Basin Survey and Design Team of the Provincial Department of Water Resources (design according to the flood once in 50 years, and checked by the flood once in 200 years), and Hailun County raised funds on its own to mobilize The county's rural labor construction. In October 1958, the earth dam was initially closed. In 1960, a water conveyance tunnel and a spillway were dug through, and a total of 73,000 cubic meters of earth and stone was completed. Because the reservoir project was launched during the "Great Leap Forward" period, the design standard was low, and the conditions were limited. The dam foundation's confining water was not treated, the downstream slope protection layer of the dam was built with humus, and the dam crest was not As a protective layer, the construction in winter has not been rolled. The body of the water conveyance tunnel is 58 meters unlined, and there is water leakage in the lining part. The spillway only needs to open an opening for flood control, and the cross section and elevation cannot meet the requirements for preventing floods that occur once in a century.
