Merdeka Square Review

Dataran Merdeka dahulunya dikenali sebagai Padang Kelab Selangor terletak dipusat pentadbiran lama Kuala Lumpur. Pada asalnya ia merupakan padang kriket bagi Kelab Selangor (kini Kelab diraja Selangor)Dataran Merdeka, formerly known as Padang Kelab Selangor, is located in the old administrative center of Kuala Lumpur. It was originally a cricket ground for the Selangor Club (now the Selangor Royal Club)

Merdeka Square is a renowned historical landmark in Kuala Lumpur city centre. Situated in front of the famous Sultan Abdul Samad Building, it is a popular sightseeing spot with buildings like the National Textile Museum and City Gallery surrounding it.The most attractive sight of Merdeka Square is the 95 meters tall flagpole with huge Malaysian flag.

There are many retro buildings around Independence Square, Kuala Lumpur Old Railway Station, Sultan Abdul Sham Building, KTM Railway Station, etc. The nearby Kuala Lumpur Dahua Hotel Autograph Collection Hotel is also a classic white retro style.

The surrounding historical buildings that are worth visiting include the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, St Mary the Virgin Cathedral, and the Kuala Lumpur Library.

Near Merdeka Square is the Memorial Library built in 1909, St Mary's Anglican cathedral, a Gothic style building over a hundred years old and the stunning modern Dayabumi complex.

Surrounding the field are historical buildings including the Selangor Royal Club Building which is located at the corner of the field.
