The Getty Center is a large private art museum overlooking Los Angeles that was built with donations by American oil tycoon J. Paul Getty. The museum has a rich and varied collection including Greek and Roman statuary, Byzantine manuscripts, Renaissance paintings and other objet d'art, including Impressionist masterpieces by Van Gogh. There is also a large-scale natural park encircling the Getty Center. The design of the park and gardens is inspired by European horticultural tradition. Hundreds of rhododendrons form a huge topiary maze. This is truly a place where man and nature exist in perfect harmony.
