Additional Information

Introduction

The Bradbury Building is an impressive architectural landmark located in Los Angeles, California. Named after Lewis L. Bradbury, a mining millionaire, the Bradbury Building is one of the most impressive Victorian buildings left in Los Angeles. Lewis L. Bradbury commissioned the building in 1892 and the structure was completed in 1893. Bradbury wanted his building to be unconventional and hired draftsman George Wyman as a designer. Wyman was reluctant to take the offer at first but a conversation with his dead brother through a Ouija board changed his mind. Wyman's design was inspired by the 1887 science fiction book Looking Backward by Edward Bellamy. The final result was an architectural masterpiece that includes oak paneling, wrought-iron railings, open-cage elevators and a glass roof.
