The Longyan Museum was built in November 1975. It is a comprehensive museum of social history and revolutionary commemoration by using the provincial cultural relics protection unit "the former site of the Red Fourth Army of the Communist Party of China, that is, the former residence of Mao Zedong". The museum is a public institution owned by the whole people under the Culture and Sports Publishing Bureau of Xinluo District, Longyan City. It has a collection of 5,300 cultural relics and has 10 official staff. In September 2018, the China Association of Museums decided to approve the Longyan Museum as a national second-class museum. The museum undertakes the protection, publicity and scientific research of cultural relics in Xinluo District, the central city of Longyan. The museum has basic exhibitions such as "Longyan People's Revolutionary History" and "Longyan Folk Cultural Relics". The Houtian Riot Memorial Hall, Deng Zihui Memorial Hall, the Second Detachment Memorial Hall of the New Fourth Army, Guo Diren Memorial Hall, and a brief introduction to the life and deeds of Confucius were built in the township and township using the old revolutionary site. Thematic exhibitions are open to the public all year round. In addition, the museum also holds more than 20 temporary exhibitions on art, calligraphy, photography, stamp collecting, animal and plant specimens every year, and receives an average of about 80,000 visitors throughout the year.
