Early Qijin was called "Qianhou", referring to the tribes behind Qishan. In the late Qing Dynasty, Cijin became a trading port because of its good geographical location. After the official opening of the market in the Qihou area, all industries were prosperous and bustling, and it was an early development area in Kaohsiung. Kaohsiung City has invested more than 50 billion yuan to build the Cijin Coastal Park on the peninsula, which is a good place for sightseeing and rest. Cijin Coastal Park can be divided into four areas: bathing beach, sea-viewing trail, off-road area, and natural area. There is also a sea viewing platform supported by 15 pillars, which extends from the shore to the sea. Standing on the platform, you can experience the huge force generated by the impact of the waves. There are many bicycle rental spots in the park, and there are also special bicycle paths. You may choose to ride a bicycle to get around the park. There are many colorful floor tiles on the park trails collaged with various patterns of marine life, making you closer to the ocean. Along the 1-kilometer-long trail, there are pavilions for tourists to rest and observation decks that can overlook the sea. When you are tired from walking, you can sit or stand here and watch the sea listen to the waves, which is very comfortable.
