Cancons Square is located at the northern end of the old urban area, on the banks of the Garonne River, covering an area of 120,000 square kilometers and is one of the largest squares in Europe. On the west side of the square, there are monuments to members of the French Gironde faction, as well as bronze sculptures, statues of Montaigne, a thinker born in Bordeaux, and statues of the philosopher Montesquieu. The square is surrounded by rows of trees, and there is a viewing platform on the river bank, which is a good place to watch the whole square.
