Weizhou Ancient City

The ancient castle in the ancient city of Zhangzhou is called the "first castle in China". It mainly has ancient castles, ancient opera houses, monasteries and residential buildings. The architectural style of the ancient castle is unique and well preserved. As an ancient building enthusiast, it is worth visiting. The residential plans in the castle are all Qing Dynasty buildings, brick carvings, wood carvings are very exquisite, parts are the essence of folk architecture.

In the Northern Wei, Liao, Yuan, Ming and Qing periods, Zhangzhou was a traffic road and commercial center between the grassland and the plain. Therefore, it was once very prosperous. Now the ancient city of Zhangzhou only has the north wall and the north end of the west wall and the south gate "Jingxianmen". Wanshan Building and Wenchang Pavilion were rebuilt in previous years, and the ancient temples, temples, pavilions, houses, etc. in the city have Ming and Qing architectural styles.

The ancient city of Zhangzhou has 3 city gates, Dong'ingmen, Jingyang Building, Nanjing Xianmen, Wanshan Building, Xiqingyuan Gate, Guangyun Building, 4 corner buildings, 24 enemy buildings, more than 1100 gates. Outside the three city gates, there are Licheng and Second-level Licheng. There is a moat outside the city, the river is more than 10 meters deep and more than 20 meters wide. The outline of the ancient city is irregular, wide in the south, small in the north, and uneven on both sides of the east and west. The ancient city does not open the north gate, but builds the Yuhuang Pavilion on the north city. The city is mainly the main line of East and West North Fourth Street, forming a building pattern with the symmetry of the Drum Tower and the South Gate, and the North and South Street as the central axis. Historically, Zhangzhou area with Han nationality culture as the mainstream, but in the ancient city form, it is anti-Han nationality traditional "citizen system" strictly: square and dignified, latitude and longitude, central axial symmetry planning and construction, is the biggest characteristic of Zhangzhou ancient city.

The place is not big. It feels like there is a 20-minute finish. There is a wooden tower next to the small door that can go up the steps and go up the city wall. It’s not far to walk on the wall.
