Former Residence of Zhao Haixian

Zhao Haixian, late Qing Dynasty (1830-1904) Jianghuai famous doctor, famous sloppy, Haixian as the word, lined with words. Zhao Haixian Yanglou was funded by Yangzhou Dayan Merchant, Jiangdu Muxing owner contributed materials, Ningbo craftsmen built it, and invited Japanese design. Aiming to repay the kindness of treatment and life-saving treatment, Mr. Zhao Haixian was given to him after the construction. Zhao Haixian Yanglou, located at No. 15, Jiashu Lane, outside the East Gate of Xinghua City, was built in the Guangxu period at the end of Qing Dynasty (about 1900). It is a Chinese and Western-style imitation European building with a construction area of 500 square meters. Jiashu Lane is also called Yanglou Lane by the local people. Zhao Haixian Yanglou has important historical value for studying the history of Chinese medicine, especially the formation and characteristics of the "Xinghua Medical School" in the Qing Dynasty.

Zhao Haixian Yanglou is located in the old street of Xinghua, Taizhou. This is a Chinese and Western building with characteristics. This is the former residence of Zhao Haixian, a famous doctor in the late Qing Dynasty. The specific location is in No. 15, Jiashu Lane, Dongmen, Xinghua City. After entering, we can see a three-story building in the form of a Roman building, as well as garden courtyards such as pavilions, pools and rockery, which are quite Chinese style. This is now a provincial cultural relics protection unit. During the Guangxu years, Yangzhou a salt merchant and Jiangdu a big wooden shop owner to repay Zhao Haixian for his life-saving treatment, specially hired Ningbo craftsmen to carefully change the old house for the Chinese and Western three-story main building. Now it is a cultural and educational base of Chinese medicine in Jiangsu Province.
